Doubt it. While you might love them, I don't think the rest of Europe shares your passion.

Rubbish Nick, when you talk Mustang in UK most people hold it in very high regards, we had the biggest survey ever conducted by a TV channel, national newspaper & motoring magazine together on the Brits top 100 most popular cars ever made of all time.

Mustang come in at No 10 which was not bad considering Ford have never sold one car here ever. Mondeo & Focus were way down list in nearer to the 100 place spot, Porsche 911 was No1, Capri No4, Escort 1&2 RWD No6 and Cortina No7.

That's the UK though, and as you know, Ford's reputation in the UK is much better than it is on mainland Europe.

The Mustang might sell relatively well in the UK, but in the global scheme of things, that's really not a HUGE market. Perhaps when the Mustang moves to GRWD and producing a right-hand-drive version would become a much simpler proposition, it may be exported to more markets.

The Mustang will never again be a HUGE market selling 400,000 a year. The first Mustang came at a time when there were not any small and afforadable American sports cars. Bucket seat Falcons and rear engined Corvairs just didn't fit the bill. The Thunderbird was a bloated pricey yatch in the 1960's. The US was starving for something sporty in a way that large ordinary 2-door sedans could not deliver. Today they are held in high regard the same as the legendary image a Harley has for bikes.

Modern day priorities are different. Not as many people are going to buy a Mustang as they did in the 1960's simply because most people need room for families or hauling utility. Some people may perceive them as an unecessary indulgence yet they are priced on par or less than the average sedans selling today. The Mustang is still very much a personal car if you don't have a family, or you are an empty nester. It is also often a second car or third car in a family.

There will always be a demand for a Mustang. If Ford gets to a point they cannot sell them then they are obviously doing something wrong. Previous generation owners will always be looking for something updated and new. People who always wanted one but was never able to have one in the past will still be able to make thier dream come true. New generations of youth will discover them and be inspired by the legends that preceeded them.

There is no Ford without a Mustang. If Ford put a little more Mustang into every car they made then they would have no trouble selling more cars...

The Brits have a very passionate Mustang fanbase. And they seem to have no problem importing them and converting them to certification without Ford's help...

Upwards of $175,000 for blown 2008 Saleens converted to RHD in Australia.

I saw a TC Limo in some porn movie shot in Hungry a couple years ago LOL

Yes, you'll often see TC limos around the world.

So let me get this straight, you watch porn movies? (note to self) I had no idea such a thing was going on! Is this common ? :)

That's interesting.....not horrible, but not great either. I see they also had to put a side turn indicator light in the front quarter panel.

The lighting has to be certified to UK standards. A lot of the owners comply with regulations and do the work themselves or have some that specializes in certification do the work. You will see a variety of lighting configuartions that comply. Many people just replace the back up light on the regular taillamps and convert them to turn signals using amber bulbs. Other people buy aftermarket taillamps that are specifically made for use in export markets. They also have to comply with the side fender turn signal repeaters. You will find them in various shapes depending on the donor car, but they are usually from a late model European Ford. There is also a vendor who makes Mustang mirrors with the turn signals built into them wrapping from front to side on the mirror housings.

I know that they need to comply to standards. I'm just saying I'm not necessarily thrilled about that particular design. Personally, I'd go for something that changes the look as little as possible. If a company made taillights that had a white strip all the way across on the bottom (next to reverse light), with 2/3 being a turn light, I might go for that. And I'd probably go for the mirror mounted turn light as well.

Celebrating ownership with a few mods so far:

I also dressed up the interior a bit with a Bullitt satin aluminum shift bezel with boot, GT500 aluminum pedal covers and my own version of blue LED ambient lighting in the front and rear footwells, cupholder and inside the console compartment...

The rear now has classic Mustang lettering and chrome taillamp trim...

Ouch!! Do you think there is enough demand for a RHD Mustang in the Australian market to warrant its production? Even if it was produced in the US and shipped there, it would have to be cheaper than the individual conversions you get now.

I'm not entirely up on Mustang interiors -- was there a mini-clock in that circle before, or did you swap that radio out from an SEL Fusion and add the button?

No there was never a clock. There was a 12V power outlet with a removable cap. The Mustang also has a power outlet and an auxilary audio input jack inside the center armrest compartment. I always use the power outlet inside the console compartment for my cellphone.

The Shaker 500 audio unit is factory equipped. For 2008, Ford added chrome rings on the knobs for a nicer look.

Looks like your enjoying your new pony Watchdevil!

What method did you use to install ambient lighting in the cup holder area? I know how the factory unit is done. Its an entirley different console topper. Looks nice.

When you order the add-on Genuine Ford ambient lighting accessory kit you don't get the figure 8 light ring that comes with factory equipped ambient lighting. Instead the dealer accessory kit comes with a single LED light that you drill a hole in the back cupholder wall and press it in from behind. The light shines forward. The dealer kit also comes with long LED tubes that install under the dash which is not like the factory lamps. The dealer kit does not include rear footwell lighting but it does add an LED light to the inside of the console compartment. The dealer installed ambient lighting kit is color changable and mounts a round button on the left side of the cu holder as opposed to the factory equipped square button to the right of the cupholder.

For about $30, I bought all my LED lights at Advanced Auto Parts. I bought two blue LED light pods with six LED's in each one. The light pods are mounted in the factory provided locations at the center of the bottom of the knee panels in my Mustang. Then I bought a four pack of single blue LED's. The rear footwell lighting installs on each side of the rear of the console just like the factory lighting. On 2008 models there are semi-circular guides for mounting factory LED's which is molded into the underside of the rear of the console. I simply drilled holes the same size as the LED's and pushed them into the holes from the back side. I did the same thing for the cupholder LED and the LED that goes to the left of the power point inside the console compartment. For the cupholder and console compartment I followed the Ford dealer accessory kit PDF file for templates and instructions for mounting.

I wired all the LED lights together to the wire that goes to the PRND321 bezel indicator illumination bulb. It dims with the regular instrument lamp dimmer, goes on and off with the theater dome lighting and with the remote lock/unlock. It stays lit with all the instrument lights while they are on.

In the second picture below you can see the shitty job Ford did wrapping the wiring harness so the wires are exposed and they passed it on the outside of the carpet that covers the front of the tunnel instead of underneath it like they should have done.
