Ford Fiesta 4door spy shots

Looks fine. Seems to have greater than average ground clearance.

Nice call by Fields on waiting for this instead of settling for the Ecosport.

I think you're right, because of the new Honda Fit, which would've blown the Eco out of the water, instead of looking dull, next to a Fiesta.

And in a shocking twist, it looks EXACTLY like the concept.

Frankly, I think it's the only B-car that doesn't look completely ridiculous.

What? Unless you have X-ray vision you cannot tell 90% of what that car will look like. All I can tell from that thing is that it has windows and tires.

But no, no no noes. No no no no.

I am a troll. I say negative things therefore I must be right. So Ford was wrong to not bring over the Ecosport AND the last generation Fiesta in 2005. If they had done THAT, then they wouldn't have lost so much money last quarter.

What kind of gas mileage is it going to get? It better be over 40.

Information is available on Ford England's website,

Link to ford.co.uk fiesta specifications

The Euro extra urban cycle is different to EPA highway fuel economy test:

- Most current Fiesta gets better than US 40 mpg, all better US 35 mpg.

- The diesels get better than US 60 mpg

Add in some off-topic bitching about Panthers, Rangers, and how we don't get the C1 Focus and I think we're covered.

That the old diesel Fiesta JPD, the new one comes in October with a ECONETIC diesel option that will return up to 63.5 US MPG.

Meh, I said better than US 60 mpg because I did the math in my head.:)

PS,

and the full schedule for new Fiestas isn't out yet either,

so the existing one proves the point of my original post which was proving most

Fiestas exceed US 40 mpg.

If they have finished prototypes driving around Detroit, how quickly theoretically can they find the bugs, get the quality right and start production?

12 months - depends on how much of the electronics are US-specific. If they are just testing US-spec radio, and emissions system (and the US spec grille) then they should be done in a jiffy. However the indication is that the US spec Fiesta will share more technology with South American Fiesta than EU Fiesta - incl the 1.6l ROCAM engine and 6 speed PowerShift transmission.

Finally, it seems Ford NA is having trouble with assembly location - currently the Cuatitlan plant in Mexico seems to be selected for this car. However that plant will need major investment from its current SuperDuty/Icon portfolio. Currently the Fiesta is planned for launch 12 months after the 2010 Fusion - so December 2009.

Here's some new shots from China:

http://auto.sohu.com/20081105/n260443540.shtml

Nearly all the camo is off except for the frustrating bit at the rear that hides the c-pillar and trunk.

I ran the text of the article through one of those web translators and it says that the sedan is likely to debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show which runs Nov 19 - 25.
