Bored of Pisteon
Does this mean, there will be no 2010-11 Trans-Am? Now that REALLY REALLY SUKS. Yep, and there goes any future remake of Smokey and the Bandit too!
Bored of Pisteon
I guess I'm qualified to be a CEO then. Gimmie my $30 million a year! :party2: Same for me too!
Critic
Same for me too! I find you'd make a Great Grand PooBah! BTW a remake without Jerry Lee, and Buford T. Justice would be a remake like Steve Martin playing Clouseau. Just not the same feel to it anymore.

snooter
To me, the assembly point is the most important factor. That is where the majority of the jobs are in auto manufacturing. i agree..and hondas are made in america by american workers...and he does not buy all motorcycles beacuse he wants to make a buck..i enjoy riding them as much as he does..some are very cute and they are all fun
630land
How did Jackie Gleason fit in that LeMans? The interiors were tiny compared to the car's size. Pontiac turned to fleets to bump up LeMans sales for 1976-77, then the A bodies changed in '78, and no more police versions.

Well.....there is always the new Genesis coupe....paint a flame belching korean dragon on the hood and run block for a truckload of kimche with the police in hot pursuit in a Crown Victoria.... whistler
What are the Pontiac "fans" so mad about? Pontiac has been pretty much dead since the 70s... after then, they built few cars that weren't Chevys with more plastic and a twin kidney grille. The only thing that was "Pontiac" about any current cars was the Pontiac badge. Other than that it was a ragtag collection of Chevys (G6 = Malibu basically, Montana is an Uplander, Torrent is Equinox), Daewoo (G3), Holden (G8), Toyota (Vibe), and one unique car, the Solstice. Really don't see what is worth getting upset over with those cars gone...

FoMoCobra
I am one of those disgruntled Pontiac fans from GMI. To tell you the truth, I have been leaning towards getting a Ford product next anyway, but this pretty much cements the deal...see ya GM! I had been holding out hope that they would fix Pontiac and give it something besides the G8 and Solstice, but to no avail. As someone who understands what it must be like, I say Welcome! This forum isn't exactly the most welcoming. But you will get to know the various personalities if you stick around. Any idea which Ford product you are considering? I'm not totally new to Ford. I previously owned a '94 Sable and a '98 F150. My brother-in-law has the Sable now with 250k miles on it. The F150 got traded for the '04 Malibu I am looking to replace (don't ask...I don't know what I was thinking either).

Those are excellent choices. I would imagine many ex-Pontiac customers will consider the Fusion/Milan sedans. Its definitely sad to see the brand go. One of my all time favorite cars growing up (besides KITT) was my uncles Black 1992 Pontiac Trans AM GTA convertible. Killer looks and a deep rumble exhaust to go with it. Good luck with an eventual (Ford) purchase.
armadamaster
Is the Mustang the only quality USA born and made car left? New Taurus. Born in Chicago, Ill. I didn't realize Volvo engineering was located in Chicago. We adopted it and made it our own. LOL, like Madonna adopting another African baby, right? Last American Ford car was a 2007 Wixom Town Car. (on second thought............... What were you thinking??!!!) Welcome !!!! You will find that we actually talk about product here, on BON. It is a breath of fresh air, after all of the closing/laying off/BK/delaying/Government Motors, that goes on, at GMI. About the only GM product talked about, on GMI, is the Camaro, and the constant bitching about the dumbing down of Cadillac. There are a bunch of characters here, but we are a good bunch. Feel free to ask anything you want to know about, as there are some EXTREMELY knowledgable people here. Do be prepared for alot of off-topic, however.............. thats just the way we roll. :D As for your vehicle thoughts............. good thoughts, thats for sure. If I wasn't so hot for a new SHO, a Fusion Sport would be VERY high on my list. I was just in your neck of the woods, last week, on vacation. While I am glad you are pondering a Ford product, seeing as you are, why would you not consider Chevrolet or Buick as a choice other than Pontiac? Just a curiosity here....and if you buy a FoMoCo product, me and my stock portfolio thank you.

LSFan00
The backlash against Obama Motors might get real very quickly with these sorts of ideas; note, this source is from a blog with about 400,000 page views/day. READER MICHAEL RONAYNE SUGGESTS “GOING GALT” WITH YOUR NEXT CAR:Has anyone considered the opportunities for Going Galt with our car purchases? All we have to do is not buy any General Motors or Chrysler products? And just not new cars, let the old clunkers sit on the car dealer’s lots as well; the used parts business is a very locative revenue stream for the car industry. Don’t buy any socialist American cars. Don’t support the looter socialist state! What percent of the population would have to support us for this to be effective? Given that most people will be understandably skeptical about these cars on simple practical grounds, I’d say two or three . . . .
