Hydro
Thanks for the link. now Ford NEEDS to make commercials out of these segments. Who wouldn't consider one after watching the temperature stress test.
Ford Jellymoulds
Thats one hell of a kool truck, Ford development Engineer what a kool job that is. Good to see Ford USA test their vehicles in tougher than real life conditions still. Fords old RWD Escorts used to get tested just a few miles up the road from me at Chobham using the British Armys Tank shakedown facility. No wonder it went on to become the worlds greatest rally car. FOE released Ford Focus CC convertible to British buying public before testing it properly in the real world, its roof leaked like a sieve. If only Ford had taken it for a shakedown up to the Lake District in England for a week where it rains 365 days a year they would have not wrecked ruined & tarnished the reputation of what is an absolutely fab car. blksn8k2
Autosavant's coverage of the 2011 SD states that the 6.8L V10 will still be available. I think most people were assuming the 6.2L V8 was going to replace the V10 but it appears it is replacing the 5.4L V8 instead. Can anyone confirm that the V10 will carry over? http://www.autosavant.com/2009/09/25/ford-...er-duty-trucks/

Everywhere else, the 5.4 will still be available as the base engine and the 6.2 will be an option, but no V10. EDIT: Check that...sounds like the 5.4 is being discontinued. The original report was incorrect. Edited September 26, 2009 by fordmantpw

Cougarpower
Is the 6.2 based from the 5.4 because hearing this made me think about it "they made the 5.4 liter into a bigger 6.2 liter engine build by Ford" http://www.fordvehicles.com/2011superduty/...&video=sohc

I've heard it is an all new design. I had that on the video as well and thought the same as you. I think it is supposed to make people think it is an evolution of the tried and true 5.4. And I'm pretty sure it's been stated that the 6.2L has wider bore spacings than the 5.4L.
MY93SHO
And I'm pretty sure it's been stated that the 6.2L has wider bore spacings than the 5.4L. They're both V8's and SOHC. That's about it. Oh, they may both use the same oil filter. Can't tell by the pics of the 6.2L.
JETSOLVER
These days, my extended family can only afford to replace equipment when it fails. And then, because it did. Our farm/ranch is now just a hobby. Us kids had to leave to get an education, so the land was better spent that way. No bells, no whistles, no toys; truck. The blue has taken 12 years to wear out the last one, so I figure its time... no crew needed, its a volunteer operation. This will do, or due. nice work gang.
