weiweishen
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Toyota Motor Sales on Wednesday said it is recalling about 50,000 early-2003 Model-Year Toyota Sequoia sport utility vehicles to upgrade the vehicle stability control (VSC) system. The VSC system helps control a loss of traction during turns and in vehicles without the upgrade, the VSC system could, in some situations, activate at low speed and, as a result, the vehicle may not accelerate as quickly as expected. So far, there have been no reported injuries related to this problem.
NickF1011
Want to guess this is a direct result of their re-testing since the GX460 issue surfaced?
fordmantpw
Want to guess this is a direct result of their re-testing since the GX460 issue surfaced? Exactly what I was thinking. Wonder why they don't test this stuff earlier???
RichardJensen
Looking for patterns, this seems to be of a piece with the sudden acceleration problem and the other VSC problem, in that all three cases suggest that Toyota doesn't anticipate edge conditions in their electronics--the 'hillbilly with a stick' test ifeg referred to. One thing I've learned from software development...no matter how idiot-proof you make it, the world is always producing better idiots!
timmm55
One good thing, maybe, it looks like Toyota is starting to be proactive. ????

If it was a result of them re-testing all of their vehicles because of the GX460 recall, this is still very much a reactive measure.
Mr. Gumby
This is just more Toyota bashing! The problem is old people mistaking the brake for the accelerator. I mean, come on, this happens to every manufacturer, Toyota's just being singled out by the media and the government is conducting a witch hunt. Did I miss anything?

akirby
Heard this on the local radio station newsbreak this morning: Toyota is recalling 50,000 Sequioa trucks to fix a problem with the stability control system that could cause unintended acceleration. You can't make this stuff up.......
