Silverado: we don't like 3rd place....Bring on the incentives!!!

They think it's bad now, wait until the mid-sizers are released. They will cannibalize Silverado and Sierra sales.

Then…….every time they add rebates to sell the Silverado, the mid-sizers will suffer from being too close in price to the full-size range. Then they will need to rebate the mid-sizers to sell them.

Rinse, Repeat.

Also known as "2nd place" at Ford Motor Company World HQ..... :hysterical:

I thought the same thing! :hysterical:

Seriously, if the '15 F150 is really the game changer that we (and Ford) are expecting it to be, where does that leave GM? With them splitting their truck sales with the Canyonado, and the Silverado already being in 3rd place, the bottom may fall out of Silverado sales numbers. It could be very bleak for GM truck sales for the next umpteen years.

“Don’t you think you can SELL and WIN potential truck buyers with what was announced,” the GM district manager wrote. “I am asking for YOUR commitment this month TRUCK MONTH to market - promote and sell our Silverado’s [sic]… dress ‘em up on your front line and on your website… you will not be disappointed.”

What do they expect from a boring truck with a sub par interior and absolutely no powertrain innovation whatsoever?

The powertrain (engines) is actually a decent upgrade from last year, but nobody knows about it because they kept all the displacements the same.

"4.3? I had one of those 10 years ago, it was a dog and got crap mileage."

"5.3? Neighbor had one of those with piston slap, sounded like a damn Diesel."

Meet the new truck, looks like the old truck, with the same engine choices.

Think Jim Cain feels like a major ass right now?

He did hit the nail on the head - RAM incentives are at almost $6000 per unit, that is over 35% more than what GM/Ford are doing. Spending that much more is just going to hurt profits. l also don't care what people say about GMC being profitable, it needs to go - you can take the additional money and put it in the Silverado in materials and marketing. Dollar for Dollar you get a better return investing in Chevrolet.
