Anthony
http://www.autonews.com/article/20140403/RETAIL01/140409925? DETROIT -- Within hours of a General Motors spokesman saying it was easy to buy market share after the Ram pickup outsold the Chevrolet Silverado in March, GM opened its wallet to buy it back. AlRozzi
So much for all the restraint I've been reading about all week!
Anthony
They think it's bad now, wait until the mid-sizers are released. They will cannibalize Silverado and Sierra sales. Then…….every time they add rebates to sell the Silverado, the mid-sizers will suffer from being too close in price to the full-size range. Then they will need to rebate the mid-sizers to sell them. Rinse, Repeat.
AlRozzi
Do you recall the "29" lapel pins they used to wear around the offices at GM? I wonder where all those pins ended up?

twintornados
“Okay — time to take the gloves off and go back and take back what rightfully belongs to every one of you … Silverado truck sales,” the GM district manager wrote. fordmantpw
Also known as "2nd place" at Ford Motor Company World HQ..... I thought the same thing! Seriously, if the '15 F150 is really the game changer that we (and Ford) are expecting it to be, where does that leave GM? With them splitting their truck sales with the Canyonado, and the Silverado already being in 3rd place, the bottom may fall out of Silverado sales numbers. It could be very bleak for GM truck sales for the next umpteen years. Edited April 4, 2014 by fordmantpw
Bryan1
“Don’t you think you can SELL and WIN potential truck buyers with what was announced,” the GM district manager wrote. “I am asking for YOUR commitment this month TRUCK MONTH to market - promote and sell our Silverado’s [sic]… dress ‘em up on your front line and on your website… you will not be disappointed.” ------ Get those $12,000 off graphics up on your websites now!!! 94bronco
What do they expect from a boring truck with a sub par interior and absolutely no powertrain innovation whatsoever?
atomcat68
If this keeps up, they'll be distant third. https://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/rusted--broken-brake-lines-in-gm-pickups-demonstrate-the-twilight-zones-of-auto-safety-203750980.html
Hoser768
What do they expect from a boring truck with a sub par interior and absolutely no powertrain innovation whatsoever? The powertrain (engines) is actually a decent upgrade from last year, but nobody knows about it because they kept all the displacements the same. "4.3? I had one of those 10 years ago, it was a dog and got crap mileage." "5.3? Neighbor had one of those with piston slap, sounded like a damn Diesel." Meet the new truck, looks like the old truck, with the same engine choices.
blwnsmoke
So I decided to look at my local dealers website. I'm seeing between $5,500 and $7,600 off advertised on the 14s so far.
jasonj80
Think Jim Cain feels like a major ass right now? He did hit the nail on the head - RAM incentives are at almost $6000 per unit, that is over 35% more than what GM/Ford are doing. Spending that much more is just going to hurt profits. l also don't care what people say about GMC being profitable, it needs to go - you can take the additional money and put it in the Silverado in materials and marketing. Dollar for Dollar you get a better return investing in Chevrolet.
