mnm
I've never experienced the start/stop engine feature in real life. Anyone know if there is an option to disable it? If the owner was so inclined to do so?
blazerdude20
I don't believe there is an option to turn it off. Have you ever driven a hybrid? It's the same concept, pull up to a light and the engine shuts off quickly and turns on quickly when you take your foot off the brake. It's almost seamless
jpd80
Auto trans is already available for the 1.0 EB Ecosport, so an auto 1.0 EB Focus is not unrealistic. but maybe Ford is waiting to see how keenly people take up the 1.0 EB in Focus. The 6-speed manual should be a hoot to drive.... Edited April 24, 2014 by jpd80

bzcat
I've never experienced the start/stop engine feature in real life. Anyone know if there is an option to disable it? If the owner was so inclined to do so? Generally speaking, there should be a switch to turn it off. I'm not sure exactly if Focus SFE will have this ability. I turned the feature off on my cars. It gets annoying after awhile because sometimes the engine will start even if you are stopped to recharge the accessory battery (for example, when you are running AC or heater). Also, you have to leave the car in drive with your foot on the brake... if you put it in park (let say you are really in a bad traffic jam), the engine comes back on. On a manual car, the engine restart is based on clutch engagement so you have to keep the gears engaged with clutch depressed for the engine to shut off. If you pop the transmission in neutral with your foot off the clutch, the engine will come back on... kind of defeat the purpose in my opinion. silvrsvt
"The 6 speed manual should be a hoot to drive...." Not with just 120 HP it's not. But it also has a ton of torque too. The one thing I noticed about the Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost is that you could only get it on lower trims and couldn't even get MFT with it! I think Ford might be making a mistake with that. The wheels are ulgy too.
