Okay, I finally figured out that “Gator” means Navigator! Ya, I’m old. i knew Lincoln didn’t make these:

Cutting back on lower-margin vehicles and focusing on more profitable models. Sounds similar to Ford’s game plan.

Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Hits 60 in 2.9 Seconds, Beats GT500 - Autoblog Per its test results, the Dark Horse SC hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, 100 mph in 6.2 seconds, a 45-65 mph passing time of 1.1 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 10.8 seconds at 131.8 mph. Those numbers make the already potent GT500 from a few years ago look slow: 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds, 0 to 100 in 7 seconds, and the quarter-mile in 11.3 seconds at 131.6 mph. One might think a 50-lb weight gain would’ve somewhat negated the power advantage, but it didn’t.

Heavy-Duty Pickups Are Failing New Crash-Prevention Tests - Autoblog Commercial vehicles have a long way to go to match the safety standards of passenger cars. Much of that has to do with government standards for safety in passenger cars, with many of those requirements not applying to delivery vehicles and larger work pickups. If anything, heavier, larger vehicles should have enhanced safety tech, given the increased risk to other road users if a crash involving one of these vehicles occurs. The IIHS is working to change this, with its commercial vehicle assessment program having launched in June. More Class 3 vehicle safety tests are expected between now and 2027, and larger Class 4-6 trucks will also be evaluated at a later stage.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan Unveiled As The Electric SUV The ID.4 Should’ve Been - Autoblog The Volkswagen ID.4 never quite lived up to expectations, but the German manufacturer will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself with its latest electric SUV. This is the new VW ID. Tiguan, which comes with a new design, a longer range, and leverages the trusted Tiguan nameplate. The model seen here is the European version, with details about the North American version to follow at a later stage. Still, the Euro version gives us a clearer idea of what to expect from the model that will ultimately supersede the ID.4 in this market. It will also replace the ID.5 coupe-SUV sold in Europe.

Honda is now said to be hitting the brakes, delaying the next CR-V by three months and kicking off production in April 2027 instead. On top of that, they’re trimming their first-year output by nearly 7%, aiming for 41,315 units instead of the original plan. But wait, there’s more. The CR-V isn’t the only Honda in the hot seat. The company has reportedly axed plans to build the next-gen Civic at its Indiana plant starting in May 2028. Production of the Civic sedan in Ontario is reportedly unaffected and is expected to begin in April 2028. However, Indiana is currently the only North American source of Civic Hatchbacks, meaning Honda will import that version from Japan instead. Honda is projected to build approximately 70,000 Civics in Indiana this year. Removing future Civic production from the facility would free up capacity for the CR-V, which AutoForecast Solutions vice president Sam Fiorani described to Automotive News as a higher-volume and more profitable vehicle.

Mitsu and Honda would have crazy expectations then, IMO. The Frontier actually sells decently. I wonder if Honda would keep the Ridgeline at that point?

I feel like streaming is basically becoming cable at this point with ads, merged groups, etc. Yikes...

Yea, body-on-frame SUVs are Lincoln's forte in the U.S. market, and the current Gator is not only the best Lincoln product so far but among the best in its class - better than the Slade in certain respects. Unibody sedans ain't a good fit for Lincoln. The last time they put in the effort fielding such a product to compete with BMW, it was a total flop.

So… Honda is going to offer a rebadged Mitsubishi pickup for SE Asia, Mitsubishi will offer a Rebadged Nissan PU in the US, but so will Honda, maybe, and of course Nissan is bringing back the Xterra, which is derived from the Frontier. With the huge success Mitsu and Honda are forecasting, Nissan may discontinue the Frontier and build only Honda and Mitsu versions. You read it here first.
