  1. Ford Authority is not the authority they think they are….

  2. Electrostatic painting is often used in order to reduce waste and get better coverage, probably not a good idea to do that with a high voltage battery installed.

  4. Yeah, and it seems like a $600/month payment is on the low end of the scales reported. I'm left wondering how customers can afford the payments these days in addition to mortgage, utilities and other expenses. And I keep wondering when the market will push back and say enough is enough, I'm not spending that much, I'll keep my present vehicle. My Dad had an 8th grade formal education, left home when he was 15 years old, enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor, worked as a professional hunter in the Yukon for several years but was one of the most intelligent people I knew as I would realize years later. He educated himself and had read the entire works of Shakespeare because he wanted to. He worked on the railroads (New York, New Haven & Hartford) for years as a controller, United Nuclear Corporation which built the reactors for submarines and then Pratt & Whitney doing inspection work. He worked hard and was a real disciplinarian. If you left a room without turning the lights off, you heard about it. The same was true if you came home from a date at night and forgot to turn off the front door light. There were countless times when we were told that it very expensive to pay the mortgage for the house and all the other living expenses for the family. Okay, it was a lot of years ago, but I had to laugh when I found out years later that the mortgage payment to Prudential was $65 per month!

  5. Wrong. The only time Ford changes a vehicle priority is when they move a retail order to priority 1 or 2 which is rare. Dealers have full control over their order bank and priority. The dealer decides when to change it from 99 - they may have some orders they want to leave at 99 for whatever reason. How would Ford even know what priority to change it to? Normally they wouldn’t even allow job 2 orders so early but this is a special case.

  6. Many years ago I got into an argument with the editor at edmunds.com about why the Lincoln LS v8 was a 3.9L and the Jag was a 4.0L. They shortened the stroke on the LS. He said what difference would that make? So then I asked him if you have 2 glasses the same diameter but one is short and the other tall, which one holds more water? Still didn’t get it.

  7. Yeah, humor aside, you know these price changes are driven by competition and market forces, not by the goodness of their heart. Anyway, upgrading charging rate to achieve 10 to 80 percent in 33 minutes for standard range MachE is a step in right direction. That’s about 320 MPH, if my estimate is correct, which isn’t bad but still much slower than some competitors in same price range. Just saying there’s more room for improvement. Another plus is being able to routinely charge to 100% at home due to lithium iron phosphate battery which increases effective daily range. Personally, I would like to see Ford offer a de-contented and de-sized (if there is such a word) auto as a means to get prices down. As an example, I can afford to spend more for a BEV but won’t because it doesn’t add enough value to me. A small efficient low-cost BEV to drive mostly within 50 miles of home is about as far as I’m willing to commit to for now, with safety being the main concern.

  8. Since paint is highly flammable, to spray paint, you need to eliminate potential ignition sources, which will include high-voltage batteries.

  9. Allocation is based on a number of factors but primarily the dealership's sales history. Total allocation for a production period is set by Ford corporate, based on production capacity and constraints. Then Ford determines the allocation for each Region, then the Zones within each Region and then for each dealership that has earned allocation. The dealership's allocation for each vehicle line is determined on a monthly basis except for the "System Fill" allocation at the beginning of each Model Year and the "Balance Out" allocation, each of which are two-month allocation figures. The system for allocation is part of the "Wholesale Allocation Commitment" with the dealership accepting, declining or submitting a supplemental request for additional allocation for each vehicle line. Vehicle lines with multiple allocation is usually spread out evenly for the upcoming monthly scheduling period. Each dealership's USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank) is independent of any other dealership. Dealerships with scheduling allocation have an equal opportunity to get vehicles scheduled based on commodity and plant production constraints. Only your Dealer can tell you how many retail orders are ahead of you based on priority codes. Dealers can place multiple orders with the same priority code but it is not recommended. When there are multiple orders in the USOB with the same priority code, the scheduling system will schedule the order that will schedule the easiest (fewest or no supply chain, commodity or production constraints if applicable) and possibly overlook a retail order with an older original order date.

  10. Probably so they can spray parts that need to be sprayed in place but would be blocked by the battery pack. The batteries may also not take kindly to the environment inside the paint booth--I don't know if the booth gets hot enough to pose a potential thermal problem for the batteries, but getting a random spark in a room filled with atomized paint and fumes would be...unfortunate.

  11. New truck, steak sandwiches on the grill, a cold glass of beer and your boy having a fun time .... doesn't get better than that! Maybe if you posted a picture of your wife/girlfriend I'd change my mind... not really. Good luck with your new truck.

  12. Yes, Ford is ramping up production of Mustang Mach-E starting in the next few months. Here is the press release. Ford Re-Opens Orders for Mustang Mach-E Targeting Higher EPA Est. Range, BlueCruise 1.2 Hands-Free Tech, Lower Pricing | Ford Media Center Ford seems to be genuinely committed to continuous improvement for Mustang Mach-E, making an award-winning product even better while keeping pricing stable or even lower over time. The company seems to be willing to forego some short-term profitability in order to cultivate a good reputation for the Model e division in the long run. That's a very intelligent business strategy because within the next decade, Model e and Pro divisions will define Ford Motor Company overall. Plus, for Ford sheeple like me, a reversal from the traditional Ford practice of de-contenting and price increases is great news. ?

  13. It’s not all that insightful, really. It was kind of obvious with the timing of the cancellation of the North American Focus and the announcement that Ranger would launch before Bronco. It was a much smaller task to federalize the already existing T6 ROW Ranger with what at the time was essentially an all new frame (yes, it was different than the ROW T6) that would serve as the starting point for the frame the Bronco would use. As for the supply chain issues, you would have thought the Bronco would have gotten better since it launched 2 1/2 years ago but it still isn’t close to ideal or I would be working max OT right now and P703 wouldn’t have gotten delayed as much as it has been.

  14. My old dealership used to sell Explorer Police Interceptors in town at cost, less the Ford Fleet incentives Ford price concessions to help and support the town financially, in addition to being a tax paying business employing 35-40 full-time, etc. There were also other vehicles sold for the other town departments as needed. A number of years ago, one of the leading politicians in town decided that the Dealer Principal had too much influence in town after supporting an established real estate developer friend in town with a new business proposal. Afterwards, the town started buying the Police Interceptors from an out-of-state dealer and was paying $3-4,000 more for each vehicle, costing the town and its taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars more each year. So much for elected officials looking out for the best interests of the town and its taxpayers!

  15. It’s 100% due to supply chain, not lack of plant capacity. We can still add a shift and in the meantime they could alter the build ration if it really came down to it without any kind of major floor plan expansion. And yes, the Ranger is the red-headed stepchild. Its sole reason for existing in North America was an excuse to build the more profitable Bronco.

  21. Cyberdman has provided tracking for many years but is no longer able to provide that service. The following options are available in addition to asking your dealer for a Vehicle Visibility Report update. Your dealer has 24/7 access to order tracking and shipping details. https://www.ford.com/help/contact/#chat https://shop.ford.com/vehicleordertracking#/
