  1. I know these nursing home and long term care deaths are someone's family members and loved ones. I have lived through many deaths of loved ones, and I am not intentionally being 'insensitive'. The average life expectancy of someone in a nursing home is approx 2 years. Using the standard laws of rounding, anyone in a nursing home > 1.5 years could be listed as 'natural causes'. I only hope to myself, to have the courage and dignity of my family members who passed at old age when my time comes.
  2. One thing CCP WuFlu has confirmed, we are a pretty unhealthy nation in aggregate (Bill Maher, who I am not a fan of, made a comment in the form of satire of this condition). Millions of Americans on prescription drugs that suppress the immune system to solve another issue, things way out of balance. Immune system suppression making folks at greater risk. CCP WuFlu: Approx just under 3 deaths per 1000 confirmed cases or >.003 (varies regionally, my County is actually .0019), which is pretty low, and in line with seasonal flu and pneumonia. BUT the true 'case count' could be up to 10x higher* than the actual 'confirmed' cases, so the denominator in the equation is likely much greater, making the actual risk so extremely low. All this being blown out of proportion by the forces of left-wing politics. Sure it's a nasty flu, I likely had it myself, and I know several people who had 'confirmed' cases. Everyone is OK, now. I am aware of one suicide by a family member of a friend due to factors including job losses. So anecdotally, I don't personally know of any deaths from CCP WuFlu in itself, but I know of one death from the invasive polices around the disease. I am a believer the 'cure' is worse than the disease. *per CDC case studies in population centers
  3. My wife won't drive a vehicle without a heated steering wheel - and we generally do not buy the very top trim level - so that equates to never being able to buy a Ford for my wife. Too bad! Note to Ford and their high ATP/upsell strategy: Winter happens even to those who don't drive the 'platinum' level of vehicles. I would gladly pay for a winter package with a heated wheel/seats that we really need, but will never pay for all the 'platinum' trim with features that we will never need. My wife drives a 'moderately' equipped foreign brand vehicle that seems to recognize that winter happens to non-top trim vehicles too!
  4. The famous Yellowstone National Park sign, and the amazing young healthy forest in the background.
  5. Yes, strongly agree, it is not happening in 12 years like AOC promised. In fact by then it might cycle back to cooling...Of course she will claim she saved the day if that happens. Fire is nature's re-seeing process. The problem is residential development in the forest. Nature will re-fresh the forest every several hundred years, and it wouldn't matter if there was nothing there but dead forest. But when thousands have built and moved in, it becomes a huge problem when the, pine beetle, the lightning, and the dry wind all combine for nature's perfect storm of forest re-generation.
  6. The way things look, after next week you will get the Green New Deal - like it or not!
  7. In the western USA the forests are so old and overgrown that if they don't get cut down, then nature will certainly burn them down. The western pine beetle has primed this process over the last 25 years and a good percentage of the standing forests are already dead.
  8. Hmmm, What did they blame 'Climate Change' on 100 million years ago? Apparently, the climate has been changing since the beginning of time! https://dinoridge.org/explore-dinosaur-ridge/dinosaur-ridge-trail/
  9. Many don't like this Ford styling, but so many love this -
  10. Exactly, and they don't know and/or care just how much pollution is generated by floating all those vehicles/batteries/components across in the vehicles (trans-oceanic cargo ships) that produce more pollution than any other machine on earth. They can't see the big picture past their virtue signaling.
  11. Problem is wherever they go, they turn it into California: v2, v3, v4...you get the picture. Note to Californians and New Yorkers: When you leave your congested traffic, insanely high taxes, sanctuary cities, open borders, safe injection sites, free range homeless 'camping', and ridiculous, invasive strangling rules/regulations for a better place, PLEASE remember why you left when voting in your new state.
  12. Sticky solenoid(s) - easy repair if that is indeed the issue.
  13. Valve body/Solenoid pack -fully serviceable from pan removal. Do-it-yourselfer can actually perform this repair, or find an independent who has done it many times. https://www.amazon.com/5R55W-5R55S-Valve-Updated-Solenoid/dp/B076NVTM4P I've owned a few 5R55 transmissions, and never had to replace any - They re 'notorious' for customers being told - "...you need a new transmission..." Here is how to keep a 5R55 running a long time: 1. . Don't get a new transmission! Find a good independent who has experience with the few serviceable areas of the 5R55 that are prone to failure. 2. Get the Mercon V out and use Amsoil fully synthetic transmission fluid. Amsoil website will provide proper product based on your vehicle. Change every 50,000 or so. I like to add Lubeguard RED as extra protection since fluid break down is the achilles heel of the 5R55. Well worth the cost! 3. Talk to independent about replacing Valve Body/Solenoid Pack, filter and complete drain and re-fill. This can be done with simple pan removal. This service is not that expensive and the re-manufactured parts are easily available. 4. The other weakness is a servo Pin that wears a groove in the aluminum housing bore of the transmission - this is fully repairable with a commonly available kit. Can be repaired If the independent mechanic is familiar enough with the model and willing to pull to unit down to make the repair. Much less expensive than new transmission.
  14. Good luck! Career change always a big and sometimes frightful decision. Looks like you have quite the resume so I'm sure you're in demand, and you'll do great!
  15. For the record I really like that white with the old school graphics - for no other reason it stands out against all the shades of silver to dark gray that I am surrounded with in every parking lot. Just my take - I know I'm an outlier...I'll take a truck in Race Red any day!
  16. I buy American (and I own a John Deere among many other US brand tools) no apologies - I said what I said and sticking with it.
  17. Right, because we all know America was built on the backs of Japanese tractors...?
  18. Haven't heard from Fordtech1 in a while. That guy is awesome! I can't speak for him, but I know if anyone, he is the person on this forum that may have the real answer to this nagging liftgate problem, not just speculation.
  19. I'm old school, don't own anything with a power lift-gate and I survive just fine. However, the notion that this customer should let this failure slide on a $90K vehicle is absurd. On a Lincoln everything should work flawlessly and be pleasing to the customer who dropped all that coin for a luxury vehicle. I know we sometimes questions these types of posts...but I did see another Lincoln Nav owner out here complaining of the same thing. Gosh Lincoln - just fix the damn thing for her.
  20. The modern conversion van is all over the place here in the Mountain West - you don't notice because they are all MB Sprinter. https://www.outsidevan.com/gallery/
  21. There's always the stick-on version for <100 bucks that is easy to install - doesn't look as good but can't imagine having a truck without the keypad. If you have a question like this Fordtech is your guy - ping him and see what he can tell you. The guys on this thread have answers too: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/add-factory-door-keypad-367905/index3/
  22. I'll agree to dis-agree. That crowd has to have a V8, authentic big V8 sound, and a big V8 emblem/placard somewhere close to the hood of the truck were everyone can see. It's the same concept of Harley Customer would never buy a smaller higher revving engine with a fake V twin sound EVEN if it had far better performance. Now, younger riders like other stuff, but that does not mean it is smart to ignore the old school segment that has money and likes what they like. IMHO Ford would be smart to pay attention to that segment of the market, they already have the motor.
  23. Its really just one set of body creases...right under the headlight. I like the Ford logo on the grill also
