  1. Nah, Taurus deserves it's 40% accolade. A RWD Fusion/Falcon fitted with 280 hp I-4 high Ecoboost Hybrid, would you consider that high power?
  2. Tough cowd at BON, I thought her perspective was that of an ordinary person on a test drive. Sure the review might be light on detail for the rivet counters but I think the MKS is all about experience. You may as well describe chocolate - just go drive the thing yourselves and enjoy it.
  3. Anyone catch that the Taurus sales were 6700, up 40% compared to May 2007.
  4. I always thought the Fiesta was a Limo off the Ka .
  5. Is the D3 Taurus a little too large for the markert, could it be a tad smaller/lighter?
  6. Random thought, Would Ford entertain a long wheelbase Fusion like the new Mazda 6 ahead of CD3/EUCD merger? A DN101 Taurus sized Fusion would make sense if you wanted to recombine Fusion and Taurus. I think it would be lighter than trying to down size the D3 Taurus. Perhaps that would open up another car spot between Focus and an in betweener Fusion/Taurus.
  7. The price point on the Fiesta will probably start around $12,000 I think you nearly got away with the Mini arguement except it's a niche product that starts at $18,700. Nice try all the same.
  8. The new Jaguar is a great car and will be a success for Tata. It's the other models that are concerning, particularly the costs associated with the next product cycle.
  9. I acually sat in the back seat of the current Fiesta the other day, I was like a bullfrog on a lilly pad, OK for short hops and smaller people.
  10. Yeh but V8s are like the class bully that didn't study for the test.
  11. Rather than V6 , Ford is exploring EcoBoost gasoline-electric hybrids. EcoBoost hybrids will have a much smaller gasoline engine without hurting performance
  12. A small car is not a hard sell when gas is $5.00/gal or more, you don't really need to convince buyers when they're given all the options (if not room) they find in larger Fords.
  13. Some fool playing with CGI or is it a study of style extremes to allow maximum lattitude for two completely different cars? Anyone ever seen a composite mock up where two cars had to share the one platform? Normally though the left side is different to the right with those.....
  14. The more the merrier, At least the baby Fords have some style compared to those baby fridge magnets Toyota calls cars. If Ford has smaller cars to fill vacant positions then surely a combined few thousand sales each month is worth it.
  15. 40 mpg combined mileage still beats the best mileage you'd get out of a US Focus.
  16. Especially if it's the city cycle.
  17. Not really, Volvo is far more intergrated with Ford. After all, they developed P2 (D3 in Ford), P22 (Ford EUCD) and use the joint effort C1 Volvo's safety and engineering permeates throughout Ford
  18. It's called the "Jerry York", off sider to old fart whistle himself.
  19. Hallmarks of a pretend GM turnaround plan. They really haven't changed a darned thing.
  20. Sorry, Volvo is not in serious trouble, the losses are small in comparison to product revenue. It does needs to change its product mix and use more of Ford's resources, that is happening.
  21. And yet Ford keeps saying Volvo is not for sale. The plan is for Volvo to use more Ford derived products to improve its costs. That doesn't sound like a company for sale to me - not in the immediate future anyway. Here's another kicker, old man Kerkorian is borrowing the $600 million he using to buy Ford shares!!! I wonder how long the loan is?
  22. While a 240 hp 3.0 V6 sounds OK, I'm thinking it's future will be cut short by the I-4 Ecoboost. The vast majority of Fusions sold are I-4s so the 2.5 with 6-speed auto is the major engine. It would be logical for Ford to offer the NA I-4, Hybrid and an Ecoboost I-4. The key is when are the Ecoboost I-4s due?
  23. The more I read the article, the less they really say - I hate that! The width of the vehicle says to me MKT is based on the CUV D3 rather than D3 Sedan chassis. I do like the MKT and a similarly wider MKS would be a brilliant move too - both would do well in Europe and Asia. Ford could have then kept D3 exclusive and achieved a similar end for the Taurus with the CD3 CX-9 platform, putting Fusion and Taurus on one "platform grouping" but probably of little consequence now.
  24. Stop complaining, gasoline is still cheap. In Australia petrol is $1.50/litre and is predicted to be $2.00/litre by Christmas - US$7.50/gal Diesel is $1.70/litre and expected to be $2.20/litre by the too - US$8.25/gal.
