  1. Hybrids in general are down and with the gas prices remaining low for the foreseeable future, don't expect that to change much
  2. I agree about the Ecoboost convert, I plan to order one in the spring. The dark green with the performance package
  3. All these sources our 100% higher than the offers I got from the dealer in question. What is you average customer supposed to do? Please, I am not questioning all dealers, I am bringing specific case that happened to me. If I lived in your neck of the woods I would certainly have made a visit to your dealerships. As matter of fact , I have had a very good experiences with two of my local dealers. I am just saying that some experiences with less reputable dealers can make a potential customer uncomfortable with the new car buying, (and selling) experience. I do agree with Akirby concerning X plan purchases. Enough said
  4. Dean, for shits and giggles I went to the NADA site, they came out with same value for trade in as KBB and Blackbook. What can I say, this is was what one dealer offered, about 50% of what all my online sources tell I should expect at trade in. I not saying that all dealers do this, I am just saying that this is what this dealer did. I do plan on getting a mustang convertible in the spring and will not go back to that dealer when I start the process.
  5. But does your dealership link to blue book or black book for trade in estimates? It is a little bit disingenuous to provide the link and not even come with 20% don't you think. They didn't argue about the condition, just the price They also lost the key after the test drive, we got a new key out of the experience. I didn't want to give up the Edge anyway, it would have me renting a truck twice a year to haul the boat.
  6. I recently investigated the purchase of C Max at a local dealer. Based on the listed price after incentives and the dealer linked Bluebook and Blackbook estimates for the trade estimates (roughly the same) my wife and I had a strike price in mind. Well, it turned out we weren't eligible for two thirds of the incentives (we never finance) and their trade in price for the car was half of the trade in value estimated by the links on their website. This is what causes the lack of trust on the car buyers side. I know it is complicated with the plethora of incentives out there but we were off by $10,000 based on the info I received from their web site. Caveat Emptor
  7. It could be the camera perspective but it looks longer and lower to me
  8. The issue for Ford in the EU, as it is for all the automakers, is that the rules, regulations and political temper tantrums around plant closures make right sizing the manufacturing asset very difficult. During the head times in US auto industry the US based employees carried the brunt of the pain while the industry was restructured. What is the plant utilization rate in the EU compared to the North American, South American and Asia Pacific plants?
  9. We have the opposite complaint about our Edge. My wife loves her Edge but it just too damn big for the two of us. We actually test drove the C-Max which she liked a lot. The dealer was offering half of what KBB and the Black book estimated for the trade, so we walked. If the price of gas continues to go down they may rue that offer.
  10. If the rumors of flat plane crank pan out I think this is indicative of a corporate culture at Ford that was completely changed during the Mulally years. To think that Ford would take the risk of converting their cash cow F150 to an aluminum body and introduce an engine design into the a high end mustang seen more often in 6 or even 7 figure exotics says something about how the organization has been functioning. It remains to be seen if these changes are permanent but I am hopeful we will see more innovation from this organization going forward. Lincoln could be something of note and not just a fancy Ford someday if the current trend continue.
  11. My Audi has the fake shift points, hell, it even has an manumatic shift function built into the shifter. I was disappointed they didn't sell a real manual transmission with the convertible in the US.
  12. Doesn't it depend on the transmission, I was under the impression it is 20% for an automatic, 15 for manual but that could have changed in the with modern automatic transmissions. Ford is sandbagging non the less.
  13. I think only if it could profitably imported into the US, the chicken tax may play into that equation. What is the market for a small two passenger pick up in the US? I don't know but it doesn't look too big, which to your point of secondary market for an already produced truck.
  14. I'm with you on that choice, looking forward to test driving the 2.3 L with a stick. The one thing I hate about my current car was that it came with the CVT transmission, (the only choice here in the US)
  15. I guess they had to find something to complain about, low speed ride. Doesn't this mustang have different ride settings, may be that had it on track while driving around the parking lot.
  16. Where is the Honda Crosstour on this list, ungainly bloated whale of vehicle. I think it worse the then plain Jane Pilot, which is just boring, not ugly
  17. A friend of mine drove his vintage Austin Healy to a wedding in Newport RI from Yarmouth ME. While there the Austin blew the harmonic balancer and had to rent car to get his car trailer to get the car back to Maine. He was given C Max as a rental. This guy is a car and motorcycle nut and does not bother himself with economy minded efforts. I will say this he was impressed with the fact that he used less than 4 gallons to go 188 miles and in his words, " this car had some kick when you stepped on it".
  18. far from scientific but I mostly see F series, (lots of sd's), Rams and Chevy's in my travels across the northeast, Toyota's not so much, and Nissan's rarely
  19. I use our 2007 Edge to haul a 19 foot Eastern with a Honda 90 twice year about 150 miles. Other than the expected reduction in MPG I have no issues.
  20. If you want to understand that that look at the cost of Alfa Romeo 4C. Little tiny noisy engine in great drivers car but not usable as a daily driver starting at $59,000. Since they are selling only few (500 or so) of these in the US, how many do you think will go for MSRP? For that kind of money what kind of Mustang could you get? http://www.autoblog.com/2014/06/16/2015-alfa-romeo-4c-first-drive-review-video/ "As my first downtown stint behind the wheel proved, the 4C is not a car that will suit as a daily driver for anyone but the deeply masochistic. Yet driving it as intended is so magical – perhaps even improved thanks to the character of its most obvious flaws – that I think it deserves a rank among the very best sports cars one can buy today. Welcome back to the neighborhood, Alfa; now, show us more like this one, please."
  21. Have to agree with you, we have an Edge and my wife feels it is still too big for daily commutes by herself the 12 miles to work. Don't get me wrong , she loves her car, but for one person, it is awful lot of space. I didn't like the tallness of the Escape but do I like the hunkered down look of the MKC, could be a good replacement with the tow package next year.
  22. In its hey day, what kind of volume did the Bronco have? From there you would need project what could be expected based in today's more crowded market place.
  23. And there seems to be a locomotive shortage as well, this could be a logistics/shipping issue for years to come. I believe I read that cars were stacking up undelivered because of rail resources were being soaked up by the fracking expansion.
  24. As a potential buyer, i couldn't care less. i will be looking to replace my current A4 convertible with the 2.3 L mustang convertible soon, a lot will depend the interior and the driving dynamics. I am hoping that this mustang is really connected to the road.
  25. Is this the same engine that is going in the Mustang and if so I thought that the HP would be North of 305. I am hoping that in a rear wheel drive vehicle the exhaust piping may allow for better horse power. The current mustang V6 does 305 HP, 280 Ft/lbs at 4250 rpm, I like the increased torque and hopefully we will see a bump in both in the Mustang engine.
