  1. How about India? Check out Autoline Daily, episode 1639: http://www.autoline.tv/daily/?m=201506&cat=789
  2. Camilo Pardo was a guest on AutoLine After Hours back in December. Look for episode #268. Well worth the listen.
  3. The answer to your questions are here:
  4. Already answered. They’re currently testing a 3.0 V6 diesel for introduction during the 2017 model year.
  5. What an amusing thread. People who don’t have a clue about what they’re talking about acting like they do. I can tell you that Ford engineers do look at BON on occasion and have a good laugh. Read this thread and it’s easy to understand why.
  6. I do know several Ford engineers (Engine Design) and you won’t believe the horsepower and torque numbers being thrown around for future powertrains for the Super Duty. Absolutely incredible. And no, I’m not going to tell you what they are.
  7. Totally agree. I’ve been saying this for years, all a compact truck has to do is to haul a jet-ski in the summer, a snowmobile in the winter, and a bed-load full of firewood in the fall. If Ford can deliver a vehicle that can do that, they’ll do just fine.
  8. All this talk of a new "Ranger" sounded familiar. I checked the archives. Doug Scott said the same thing about a possible, true-compact pickup in the spring of 2013. We had a several page thread on this topic back then. 18 months later, and we're still at it. And apparently, so is Ford.
  9. Contractors. I live in rural northern Michigan where forest management (logging) and gas/oil are big. I also live in the Lake Michigan snow belt. It’s not at all unusual to see fleets of trucks, many brand new with snowplows, opening up access roads to a logging job or well site. Either you plow your way in or you don’t work.
  10. This recall will cost Ford about $500 million bucks. http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2014/09/29/ford-recall-will-cost-million/16441255/
  11. Fiat is funneling Jeep/Ram money back to Europe so as to fund Sergio's dream of putting an Alfa Romeo in the garage of everybody who lives in America.
  12. Chrysler increase is all Jeep and Ram. Jeep is hot as a pistol and FCA isn't afraid to put money on the hood to move pickups.
  13. Not sure if this is related to your question or not, but Ford just announced this three days ago: http://www.autonews.com/article/20140917/OEM06/140919846/ford-and-lincoln-get-connected-with-apples-siri
  14. Which is why I gave up reading car magazines ages ago.
  15. At least for the Detroit area, several thousand engineers, technicians, designers, etc. who really like to design and engineer cars/trucks.
  16. I too, am 6’4” tall and I doubt headroom in the ‘015 Mustang will be an issue (I have plenty of headroom in my ’012 Focus, I’m sure the new Mustang will be similar). I’m more impressed with the increase in legroom for the new Mustang which, for me, is always the determining factor. The 2014 Mustang has 42.5” of front legroom while the ’015 Mustang has 44.5”. This is a whopping 2” increase. For somebody with long legs, this is a BIG deal. I am contemplating getting rid of the Focus (which I like) and getting a new Mustang. But alas, I live in the northern Michigan snow belt and don’t know if I want to go through winter in a RWD vehicle. We’ll see.
  17. My mistake. The weights I posted in my previous post were for the 5.0L V8 version of the car: "The 2015 Mustang’s curb weight has increased on four of the six models. The new car is slightly larger than the outgoing model. Weights for the coupe range from 3,524 pounds for a four-cylinder automatic to 3,729 pounds for the V-8 automatic. The 2014 models ranged from 3,501 pounds for the V-6 manual coupe to 3,618 pounds for the V-8 automatic. Ford has not released curb weights or EPA mileage numbers for the convertibles." 18. From today's Automotive News: "DETROIT -- Some retail and all fleet customers who order their 2015 F-150s early won’t see their trucks until February. A letter to Ford dealers -- dated Aug. 20 and signed by distribution planning manager Kevin Giacomini and allocation and commodity manager John Bradley -- leaked on the Internet today details when some F-150s will arrive. Ford’s 3,000 U.S. dealers will still get some stock by the end of the year, but customers who order a specific truck with unique trim and colors will have to wait until February to take delivery. That’s also when fleet order will start to arrive, Ford confirmed. “We understand the desire to get the customer units as quickly as possible, but do not want to compromise our commitment to quality for the sake of a few additional weeks of delivery,” the letter says. Ford’s Dearborn truck plant in Michigan is shutting down Aug. 25 for the extended changeover to the redesigned 2015 aluminum-bodied F-150. The first pre-production prototypes are scheduled to roll off the line about Oct. 22. Industry analysts have said the changeover from steel to aluminum on such a high-volume vehicle is an unprecedented undertaking. Ford, in a statement today, said: “Customers are excited for the all-new F-150, which they will be able to buy and drive off dealer lots late this year. Those customers ordering specific configurations may not receive their truck until early 2015.” Full article here: http://www.autonews.com/article/20140822/RETAIL/140829951/some-2015-ford-f-150-buyers-will-have-to-wait-until-next-year
  19. The new one is heavier so it makes sense that mileage would go down, at least some. The 2015 V6 auto is about 110 pounds heavier than the equivalent 2014 model.
  20. Brad Wernie wrote the article. No idea where he got his information.
  21. This week, Automotive News is featuring Ford in their annual "upcoming products" report. Go here for a summary: http://www.autonews.com/article/20140818/OEM04/308189998/ford-puts-fresh-spins-on-its-classics
  22. Well, that's the working name of the new MKS. This is from this week's Automotive News, which has a large article on upcoming Ford and Lincoln products: "Lincoln promised four new vehicles in four years, so the MKS replacement — if it is still called MKS — should arrive late in the second quarter or early in the third of 2016 as a 2017 model. Ford Motor is working on a flagship Lincoln sedan, known internally as the Continental, that could become or replace the MKS. It has a transverse-mounted front engine and all-wheel drive. A spy photo showed a large luxury sedan with a grille strongly resembling those of current Jaguars. Sources say the MKS likely will follow the Taurus and trade its aging Volvo platform for a stretched version of Ford’s global CD4 front-wheel-drive platform with awd as an option. The MKS has been criticized for its cramped rear seat; Lincoln will need a more spacious rear compartment for demanding Chinese customers."
  23. Why is this on a Ford discussion forum? Ford sold AM year's ago.
  24. This is going to be tough considering Genk (Belgium) is scheduled to be closed later this year.
  25. Agreed. I think we forget how revolutionary Ford styling was back in the early/mid 1980's. The U.S. industry was coming out of the fuel-crisis "K-car era" where everything was boxy. The aero-look found on the '83 Bird, Tempo/Topaz, Taurus was something brand new, at least for the U.S. market. Ford, at this time, was the acknowledged styling leader in the U.S.
