ENTRY LEVEL IS NOT TWO TIER!!!!

level

Recommended Posts

Entry level future employees have a lower starting wage than the current contract.

They also get incremental raises.

By seniority, as a master wage (higher paid) employee retires quits or dies, the seniority Entry level employee moves up to the higher paying job.

THAT IS FAR FROM A TWO TIER. TWO TIER IS PERMANENT- ENTRY LEVEL WITH RAISES AND SENIORITY PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY IS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have already voted on and passed COA's at many if not all of the Ford plants that outsourced Material handling, cribs, stores etc.

THE ENTRY LEVEL BRINGS THIS WORK BACK TO OUR LOCALS AND PLANTS!!!!!!!!!

Ford is constantly investing outside of the U.S. currently

THE ENTRY LEVEL MAKES US COMPETITIVE AND FORCES THEM TO INVEST MONEY AND JOBS INTO THE U.S.

Currently the health care costs are a liability on an already failing company, albeit it is not our fault for the failure- the fact remains.

THE VEBA WILL ALLEVIATE FORD FROM BILLIONS IN LIABILITY AND ALLOW INVESTMENT INTO OUR PLANTS AND NEW PRODUCTS.

Having said all of that, as more and more plants close here in the U.S., let's wait, ask questions and make a decision then. There are many differences in GM and Chrysler, but many of you are misinterpreting them.

Chryslers product promises were weaker than GM's, but even so, they were bought by a strip and flip that promised 15 billion in investment and about 4 years of product. I never heard of a strip and flip doing such a thing. Venture capital groups buy, destroy and sell while stealing profit and life blood out of pensions, benefits etc.. It is more likened to a near death experience that they were lucky to survive. I wish them all well, but I am glad I am not in their shoes. At least the Ford family has a history with us.

Right now at Ford we have Temporary full time, temporary part time etc all making lower wages, not gaining seniority, not getting benefits and pensions, no product future for us or them.

WHAT MAKES THE ENTRY LEVEL ANY BETTER OR WORSE THAN WHAT WE ARE ALREADY DOING?

Lets all try something new. No attacks on what eachother has to say, or on eachother. Just talk the issue. Think you can do it brothers and sisters???????

Oh the international rep. learned how to post a thread now. Level is UAW rep, if you would like to tell them what you think this is a good tread to post what you think about the "great" job they are doing. So what is the top pay for an "entry level" employee Mr. Level? Do you and your cohorts plan on allowing the companies to eliminate the premium jobs that our members earn though sacrificing their bodies. What are the younger guys suppose to do once they are no longer suitable for line work and still have ten years to go before their eligible to retire? How will they pay for their medical once the VEBA is bankrupt?

New Letter To UAW Appointees!‏ by Future Of The Union & The Soldiers Of Solidarity

To: All Chrysler Local Union Leadership

Re: UAW Chrysler Tentative National Agreement

Greetings:

We have concluded a hard set of negotiations with Chrysler and have a four year tentative agreement. The International Executive Board, the Bargaining Committee and the UAW National Chrysler Council have approved the agreement. Approval was almost unanimous.

The tentative agreement is patterned after the UAW General Motors’ agreement. We got the wage freeze, the two tier, the special non-core, the COLA diversion, the 2 years and a wake up JOB Bank, and of course, the VEBA funded at a full 50%.

Under the tentative agreement, all our retirees health care was secured for life because we promise to only invest VEBA funds in casinos organized by the UAW. We secured the pension despite the VEBA deduction “pass through” by reducing long term cost through a once and for all termination of all pension benefits for new hires.

In addition, we were able to achieve entitlements for our members that go beyond pattern — we call this “pattern-plus” minus the jobs for temporary workers, and a sliding scale on product commitment that further reduces our dependency on permanent workers.

As a part of the “pattern-plus” minus formula, workers will start with a $1.06 COLA float and it will be reduced to a nickel. This pretty much follows the pattern.

These and other items (many more of which will be disclosed after ratification) are unprecedented. For example, the non-core status of Toledo Machining, Detroit Axle, Marysville Axle, 19 Parts Depots, and the whole Transport division will make these facilities much more attractive to prospective buyers and the workers will come with ready made UAW representation in case further protections for employers are required.

At this time the International Union is asking that all appointed union representatives stand in solidarity with the company in support of this tentative agreement. Educate yourself on the contents of the highlights but don’t bother to read the actual contract. Seek out workers and show your support for us by telling them, “You’re lucky to have a job.”

There are some disloyal members who are trying to divide our union by objecting to items like two tier. We call them “dividers”. Don’t listen to them. They only want to divide our solidarity. Divert attention from their criticisms by accusing them of charges unrelated to the contract.

Use discretion. One brother accused the dividers of being communists. He was well intentioned but a bit out dated as all our parent companies have intimate relations with China. We don’t want to upset management. Instead, question their connections to the notorious Reuther family.

After you have finished reading this letter, sign it and date it, and return it in the postage paid envelope so we can be sure you want to keep your appointment. If we don’t receive your signed and dated response ASAP, we will assume you want to go back on the line.

In Solidarity,

the letter is a hoot.

I for one do not belive that entry level hires will ever get full pay.

in 2 contracts from now when lower teir get the majority they will vote all wages down to that level, making it a 1 teir system.

this is why this system is flawed and wrong to start in the first place.

hey how about that 4 teir wage system for internatiol and local reps.I think they should be payed on who they represent. :stirpot:

How about FUCK YOU,you take the 14 an hour and see how you like making half of what people all around you are making. The entry level or shit on tier as I call it will never make core jobs. Then what all non core and core jobs are giving up to 14 dollars an hour and the middle class is gone as we know it.We are thge only middle class left in this country the rest have been busted down in pay, jobs outsourced to 3rd world countries and taken over by immigrants who are getting paid what we demanded 15 years ago.

So take this shit somewhere else like the employees website, this kind of proppaganda is welcomed there.

I don't know all of this shit. I have always known how to post a thread and start a topic. I do know this much from reading it. The "entry level" get raises every year either 3% or tied to some kind of index (in the highlights) whichever one is higher.

I don't even understand the VEBA, but I know that if it is tied to products in the USA, and wallstreet investors are lining up to get involved in it, but not in our junk status stock - it must be good. No one can guess how high healthcare costs will go, but the Government forces you to assume the worst case scenario when you form a VEBA. Many other unions VEBA funds are actually making a 1 to 2 percent profit and this can offset a bad year- or several bad ones down the road because of compounded interest.

First of all they will never be the majority- They will only be 10 to 25% of the entire workforce.

Look at GM white book pages 111 to 112.

They get raises capped at 3.75% - never get a negative result, and they get the lump sum raises each year.

On top of that, they get first crack at the higher paying jobs and move up to that rate when there is an opening.

We used to have a true two tier system in Ford before, this is not a two tier, it is a grow in that starts lower so all of us working now do not have to take a 5 or 7 dollar an hour pay cut.

Hey, just a few questions.

1. When are you people going to park in front of Georgetown, use your fancy vocabulary, fancy logic, and get them under the umbrella?

2. How can you believe that this union can control industry wages, when they don't control a large percentage of the industrys labor?

3. In how good a shape is a union that doesn't work to get other people in the industrys wages up to union scale, but rather comes to the union workforce and wants them to take cuts down in the direction of non-union scale?

4. How does a union justify not allowing its members to vote for its international leaders, then tell these same people who to vote for for President of the most powerful country in the world, lolol. We didn't know that International reps were that far above our countrys president; so forgive us for being ignorant.

5. Why is a union so worried about temp workers, when they have a load of FULL TIME WORKERS whos plants have closed? What about them?

6. What kind of union business sense is it that didn't bring the FUSION question up at the LAST negotiations? (a whole lotta CLOSED plants would like to know that one. Maybe you could enlighten them!)

7. Are we to believe this is the best deal you guys can get?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Or rather, are we to believe this is the best deal you can get with insuring that the companys allow you guys to try and unionize the parts suppliers and everyone else, albeit at a LOWER WAGE.

8. Non core work? If it is in the plant and needs to be done to build a car, most would consider that CORE, wouldn't you? Once it comes inside those walls, the only thing non core is what nobody has to do, and the car still gets built. (symantics, shame on the union. That is all it is. Nothing more, nothing less)

9. Why is it that anyone who disagrees with the international is accused of dividing the union? What if most of the union disagrees with the international!!!!!! I guess that means the international is then dividing the union, of course that's ok cause they are the geniuses who helped get us here in the first place.

Giving us that "Holier than thou" routine about what the union has done for us is wonderful. The unfortunate part is------------>those people are mostly dead and gone. The day Toyoty opened its first plant here, Walter Reuther woulda been outside those walls with an army of reps, and even if they drug him down the stairs like Ford did, he would've gone back, and back, and back again till he convinced them. That would've saved my friends here a whole lot of the angst they now have, as there woulda been some semblance of parity as far as profits, and ability to sell at price.

YOU GUYS SCREWED THE POOCH, period. And now because of it, you offer this monstrosity.

OK, fine, come out and say it------------>you guys gotta take this, or something like this, or Ford is going out of business. Be HONEST!!!

But also be honest that Ford screwed up, and the UNION was lazy and helped cause this to. Give them the right to vote for their highest leaders so they can pick their own poison, and REMOVE them too.

It must be nice to either convince yourself your the best for your job, or possibly care less that you are not, when the people you represent can't even replace ya!!!!!!!! Imagine if GW had that deal, lololol. How would you like it? Oh, I forgot, he doesn't, but the international does, and that is A-O-K!!!!!!!!!

Tis brilliant how ya all manage to run a dictatorship inside a free country, we gotta hand it to ya.

Dude,

When you come down from your buzz, you will realize that we don't have a contract yet at Ford.

When you post to a thread, you should stop and read the topic. Your post leads me to point you to the ESSP office.

I did read the topic!!!!!! I did, really I did, lolol. And I know Ford doesn't have a contract, in fact Chrysler may not have one, lololol. But ya know, these questions need to be answered. If ya can't, don't know, or won't, I understand.

Hell, if I was involved with the offering of this type of nonsense, I wouldn't want pertinent questions asked either.

Have it your way!!!! If you can convince these people to stay on one thing you might have a case over, instead of the 500 you don't, GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!! You certainly have a future in politics if Ford goes under. James Carville, and Mary Mattlin have a replacement should things go South.

I shall write both partys for you if you'd like.

What in the fuck are you talking about. Take your raving lunatic shit somewhere else. I for one do not think it is funny that Chrysler workers can be locked out, or go back on strike for $200 a week. They will lose their homes, their cars and not be able to feed their families, pay their bills. You are fucking sick. I agree that the majority should rule, whatever the outcome, but i would never LOL about something so serious.
