Lincoln Defeats Lexus

For immediate release - Tuesday, October 23, 2007

San Diego –

Can a Ford beat a Toyota in Total Value? Yes!

"Although Ford Motor Company obtained only four Total Value leadership positions over the past four years, in 2007 Ford has added three additional wins to its collection: the Lincoln MKX, Ford Edge and Expedition EL.

The Lincoln MKX is especially worthy, as it outscored the undefeated Lexus RX350. Although the Lexus brand name offers its customers a stronger belief in reliability and durability, the MKX product characteristics and features, specifically in areas as interior design, quality and roominess, offered at a lower price, makes each dollar spent on the MKX a better choice than the RX350."

Kind of a dippy award.

VW wins only one category, but wins as best full line manufacturer.

1) Since when is VW a full line mfr?

2) How is it possible to win as best 'overall' manufacturer when only one of your products wins its category?

I'm not a big fan of strategic vision's methods. They're an odd outfit.

I mean by all means, push this award in advertising, but don't count on it as having any other value.

Because Ford is the only domestic with a decent donor platform.

GM has lots of fresh donor platforms, Caddy could clean some chronometers with their own version.

Chrysler is hopeless so when I mean Domestic, I'm largely speaking of GM :)

Like............?

Not Sigma, it's too expensive to turn into a CUV on the cheap.

Not Zeta, it's not even here yet.

And I'm thinking that Lambda & Epsilon were never engineered with a premium 2-row CUV in mind.

That leaves you pretty much whatever GM's alpha-beta soup code is for the Vue, and I don't think that will scale up nicely to Cadillac quality, seeing that it's apparently already tipping the scales for its size and class.

Lambda is too big. Epsilon could in theory, since taking the same platform that undermines the Malibu can't be much different from taking the platform that undermines the Fusion/Mazda6. I'm sure Mazda didn't design the CD platform with the Edge/CX-7 in mind.

CX-7 is 5 based, not 6. CX-9 is 6 based.
