focus05
Ford's are definitely worse than Edmund's predicted unless there was some major fleeting. My guess is 20-22% down. Overall, Toyota may have had an ok month - probably only 5% down. GM will probably be down similar levels as Ford. Chrysler had a miserable month from what I can tell - again, unless they've done some major fleeting.
Ford Jellymoulds
Bloombergs panel of experts say, what do they know? Ford -21% GM -29% Chrysler -34% http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=new...id=aFhUdgu48sg8 Who cares Oil prices are falling folk will have to replace their cars sooner or later. Classic Mini sales UP UP UP they build cars folk want to buy they listen and do not impose boring cars upon, they hold value very well so the owner can afford to buy NEW again NEW again and NEW again with high residuals. http://motortorque.askaprice.com/articles/...alue-tables.asp
jobu37
I have Ford L-M down 12% Ford -13.08% Mercury -13.71% Lincoln +17.53% Notables Fusion 14,250 +13.90% Focus 18,500 +39.29% Escape 15,000 +25.42% Edge 8,250 -18.84% Flex 5,500 F-ser 46,125 -33.36% MKS 4,750 Just wishful thinking probably. However the MKS appears to be moving very well. Local dealership received 3rd and 4th units Friday. Sold second unit yesterday. Also sold about 4th Flex yesterday as well. Expeditions and F-series been flying off the lots here locally as well. Outside chance the F-series may hit 50K this month. Focus started the month off hot but cooled as gas prices dropped to $3.40 per gallon.

Your Fusion, Focus, Flex and MKS numbers seem pretty optimistic, again, unless Ford did some big fleet activities. The Fusion will probably be flat with last year. The Focus should be in the 15-16k range. Your Escape number is close to what I have, around 14-14.5k. F-series I have in the low 40s. I see the MKS at 3,700 this month and Flex slightly below it. Sadly, your Edge number might be pretty close to truth. It's going to be a rough month. Ironically, the Explorer may have seen some decent retail movement compared to the last three months - although sales will still be off a lot. NickF1011
we have spun these numbers for the last several months..its bad..no matter how we try to spin it Eh, I don't think anyone has really spun much of anything. Pretty much every response I've seen on the past few sales threads are something along the lines of "Ewww, what a horrible month...at least there are a couple bright spots." That's about all we've had lately. A few bright spots here and there to point to as a way to move forward. I don't think anyone has really defended the overall performance of the company's sales as of late though.
TStag
So will this be a good month to judge sales of the Flex? This is a car I'm truly fascinated by so I'm wondering how well it will sell. Will it meet it's targets?

The Edge's might not be that bad -- the 0% for 72 months has sure moved a lot of them over to the sold line at our local dealer.

And should Ford have designed the Flex or just brought in the S-Max?

chiefstang
interest in the flex is slowly but surely ramping up...noticably....keep your S-max..... I remember when the Edge first came out. They were like poison to the salesman. Everybody wanted to see them, sniff them, poke 'em with a stick, but no one wanted to BUY one... Then six months went by, and BAM! People started buying them like crazy. Same thing with the Flex. They're like sales Kryptonite right now, but once people see them on the road, they'll start coming in to see them up close. Having driven the new Flex, I can't wait. Once you start getting asses in those seats, people will start buying them. It's a new car, and people are always gonna be cautious with a new model. The Edge was the same way. Don't panic, 'cause as much as I like the Edge, the Flex crushes it. All the naysayers need to actually drive one before bashing it. Sure the styling is different, but so was the '86 Taurus... And the Mini... and the BMW 7-Series... and the Dodge Intrepid... and the Bronco... and the Aerostar.........Get it? SVT_MAN
chiefstang - kind of ironic that every car you listed, except for the BMW 7-Series, has been cancelled at least once since it introduction. This is a car I'm truly fascinated by so I'm wondering how well it will sell. Will it meet it's targets? I don't think the dealers inventories are up to par yet on the Flex to give it a good showing. Out of the 6 local dealers I keep tabs on, they have probably had a total of 40-50 delivered. They have probably sold 20 of them, with 20-30 left in stock. It is hard to find the perfect Flex if you only have 4 in stock.

silvrsvt
But you could order it.... Takes at least 90 days for an order to come in from when its placed and give or take 60 or more days if you ordered it ahead of time, which is pretty uncommon. I'd venture to say that the vast majority of people buy whats on the lot vs ordering car.

I'd venture to say that the vast majority of people buy whats on the lot vs ordering car. It doesn't take that long. We have ordered two vehicles ('99 F150, '03 Escape), both very early on in the model year. Both were received in about 6 weeks. We ordered our Flex on 7/31 and it is scheduled to built the week of 9/8, so I expect to see it in around 60 days from date of order. I actually prefer to order for several reasons. One, I get to get exactly what I want. Two, it hasn't been test-driven by every Tom, Dick, and Harry doing who-knows-what to it. Three, the excitement of waiting for it makes it seem so much more special when it comes in!

Four: Your name is on the window sticker! :happy feet: Seriously, unless I am in dire need of a vehicle, I will always order. Even then, I might even consider a rental to tide me over. I have ordered the last four out of five vehicles, the exception was the post-fire Explorer. I needed a replacement ASAP, so my dealer searched for one close to what I ordered. Took her less than a day to find one that had a few more options than the original, but the rebate was higher. IIRC, the 2002 F-150 took the longest at almost 8 weeks. 2003 Focus was the shortest at about 6 weeks. When I ordered my First Mustang, I had it pushed up though contacts that my dad knew and I had it with in 4-5 weeks of ordering it. When I ordered my 06 GT, I placed the order in December 05 and didn't get it till March 06. I don't quite remember what happened with the SVT Focus, but the car was delayed a couple times and Winded up taking the one off the dealer lot that was equiped identically to the car I had ordered. StevenCaylor
All four cars I've owned since 1965 have been ordered. We wanted factory A/C on our 65 Mustang, which was rare and rather expensive. On my 83 Escort GT, I wanted it loaded, but no power steering. My 87 Turbo Coupe and 2000 V6 Mustang, I ordered both with every option except moonroof (T-Bird), leather and auto. First three took 8 weeks. The 2000 Mustang took 10 weeks due to a delay in the optional 16 inch wheels.
