J-150
Just saw an ad for it on MSN. It is so painfully obvious that its a Caravan with a VW logo on it. They didn't even try to make it look different. I smell flop. Although, it would probably end up being the the highest quality vehicle in the VW lineup. BigBadBflo
It does look the best out of them. Just like the SAAB 9-7 did on the Trailblazer platform.
silvrsvt
I constantly see the Routan commericals on TV with Brook Shields pleading people not to get knocked up just to buy one. At least they got the demographic nailed down!
ANTAUS
I agree with J150, it will probably be the most reliable vehicle in it's stable, and thats quite the stretch since it's a Chrysler to begin with. I've seen the commercials bragging about German engineering. They might rethink that when MBenz sells it off to GM

goinbroke2
I saw a commercial on tv last night about "shamwow" it's a towel or cloth that is supposed to be amazing in what it will pick up. One of the lines is "it's made in germany, so you know it's quality" or something like that. I laughed out loud when I heard it.
old_fairmont_wagon
I am so sick of that stupid shamwow commercial. I'm am so waiting for the camerman to deck the presenter when he says "you keeping up with this camera guy!". Though I like the looks of the Routan, and I think they did a good job on the interior upscaling it a bit, I just don't predict that it will be a big commercial success. Sixt9coug
I did not know of the Chrysler underpinnings. I learned something today, but now that means i have forgotten something else. thanks guys.
NickF1011
I did not know of the Chrysler underpinnings. I'm sure that's exactly what Volkswagen is banking on.

ANTAUS
So what numbers are we betting on ? Maybe 600 sales a month ? I would be shocked if they can sell more than 10K a year...

But on the other hand, "You've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a Sh*t", when it comes to VW... :-)
twintornados
I believe that VW knows it will be "a low sales number" line. Think more.....Husband drives a Jetta, Passat, or Toureg....Wife needs a minivan for soccer practice....lets keep that sale in the VW family. This way, it doens't cost VW a ton in manufacturing costs...just order what they project they will need for the year, and give Chrysler a call. Similar approach that Suzuki is using with their "new" Equator pickup truck.
NickF1011
Similar approach that Suzuki is using with their "new" Equator pickup truck. Why on earth would anyone want to emulate Suzuki's sales model?
twintornados
Why on earth would anyone want to emulate Suzuki's sales model? Didn't say "emulate".....I simply said the principle is smilar.
