Consumer Reports Gives Ford Thumbs Up

Recommended Posts

"Ford's three brands--Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury--continue to pull away from the rest of the Detroit automakers. Almost all Ford models are now average or better, with the exception of some that are truck-based. Excluding those, Ford's reliability is now on a par with good Japanese automakers."

it's nice to see positive reviews, however CR is still bum wipe as far as magazines go.

We have talked at length about the errors in their data collection, manipulation and reports.

Just because they say something nice about Ford doesn't suddenly make them reliable or worth quoting.

Well, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter what we think of Consumer Reports. Fact of the matter is most people implicitly trust them as a source of information, so to that end, it's never a bad thing to get praise from them.

To the non-enthusiast buying public, folks depend on CR to help with their camara, TV, vaccum cleaner, and car buying desisions. Dare I say CR is the least subjective of testors; the most important elements are usability, reliability, and costs. I think they are more credible than MT's Truck, Car or SUV of the Year for-example. Tundra - "2008 MT Truck of the year", need I say more...

Consumer Reports is a source that Consumers refer to and trust when making a purchase.
