Regardless, I don't think it's a car that anyone would buy for its looks.

 

I think your mistaken...just look at the Priuis...its not a looker, but it also doesn't look like a normal car either and its a great way for ecowhinny to flout his/her superiority

Volt is sooooooh is as dull as ditchwater even with governments waste of taxpayers money bribes to buy its still to expensive it will be another 1,600 sales a month type Prius huge sales flop in Europe we have diesels. I give it a 3 out of 5 for being built in Detroit otherwise it would be a 0 out of 5 car that appeals to me in no ways whatso ever. Not interested in its greenness one bit, price does not bother me one bit but most folk in Europe would steer clear of it because it is far to expensive.

 

Would 100% absolutely love to buy the Volt because it is "Made in Detroit", but the ultra dull styling says 200% big no thank you very much not interested in it one bit at all. Next car review please lets hope its not as dull as this one.

Relax guys, GM is only making about 13,000 ot them in first year, and I would bet everyone will be spoken for. The Chevy dealer by me already has 6 orders for them. And btw, the vehicle and batteries are built in Metro Detroit, the area not represenative of the rest of America. The EV Focus will also be built in Metro Detroit along with the EV TC being retrofitted by Oak Park, MI high tech firm. Gm and Ford are keeping their green vehicles in house with good ol MI R&D.

In my view, plug-in hybrids are the future like the Volt. You don't have to worry about making it there and back like with electric only, and most of your trips you can run on electric only. It can be your primary or one and only vehicle unlike electric only. So I commend GM for being first to market. I hope Ford markets a plug-in within next year or so as it's the future. Battery plants will be coming online over next 24 months.

Volt is not a plug-in hybrid. It's an electric car with a backup gasoline generator. There is a difference.

I watched CNBC this morning and guy on the program said there are a heck of a lot of people out there with cash in the bank and not spending it not interested one bit in bank loans. Not because they are tight, not because the fear of losing their jobs or the recession but because manufacturers of products are not making the right products that people want to buy. He said this recession will just drag on and on manufacturing will keep on contracting losing jobs.

 

Awesome classic F-Series with 50,000 sales a month it ticks all the right boxes breaks all the rules its not green and folk who by it don't give a toss about MPG.

It also does not get huge great taxpayers handouts like the Volt sucks out of the taxpayer 13,000 sales a year is a disaster. Folk buy the F-Series because it ticks all the right boxes its a product they want.

 

You name me one product that is worth buying from Ford that ticks all the right boxes at the moment for me there are NONE for me.

Sorry. You are correct. The Volt is the first extended range electric vehicle on the market. And let's hope GM is successful in marketing it as such so that it's not grouped in with limited range EV Leaf and Focus/TC. The public will have to be educated on its limitatations and how the Volt is less limited.

Long live the British Cortina and the German Capri. I owned a 1968 Cortina GT and a 1971 and '75 Capri and loved all of them. For me, the '71 and '75 Capri hatch were what Mustang should have been in that era. So I opted for a Ford import.

Sorry. You are correct. The Volt is the first extended range electric vehicle on the market. Long live the British Cortina and the German Capri. I owned a 1968 Cortina GT and a 1971 and '75 Capri and loved all of them. For me, the '71 and '75 Capri hatch were what Mustang should have been in that era. So I opted for a Ford import.

Yea great cars but at least you have got the awesome Mustangs today we have got absolutely sweet bugger all thats RWD fun these day, only option l have is to keep my 1972 Capri going its only 33,000 miles on the clock and its a bit of a garage queen, its in better condition than when it run off Uncle Henry's production line in Halewood England. Best Capri's were the very first early pre facelifts or the very last German Mk3's with the V6 cologne engines. Would be first in a very long queue if Ford ever sold your Mustang here would use it as my everyday car. If you asked anybody in the UK to name just one car that finished off done the most damage to British Leyland you would only ever get one answer the Cortina.

who cares, this car is actually junk, and once it gets some full time use it will display its inpraticalness.

 

the only reason GM is even putting this thing out is because of all the funding from the Government paying for it, and they are trying to release it to get good publication to prop up their image...

 

thats it.

 

after all is fixed and everyone is chomping at GMs genitals, they will let it slide away like they did the other electric car.

Its just as bad as giving Mulally all the credit for Ford's current products that where in development before he even got there.

Months before the financial crisis which you convenientlly forget and wasn't GM's fault, Public TV did a special on the Volt and showed the complete Volt facilities and how much money they had invested in it and they were probably 60% along in development. Yeah, the Volt probably helped GM get aid because they were so far into developement and could use it along with Obama as PR. And again, how can you sell a big ticket item like an auto when credit is frozen? Ford was lucky it got a big loan, but it was luck since no one knew complete financial disaster was coming soon. GM was unlucky. Chrysler got aid because Fiat stepped in. You are a weird guy wishing for millions of people to be unemployed for no fault of their own. I wouldn't wish that misery on my most hated enemy. Get some help.

GM ignored it, they were and still are stuck on the we are too big to fail... truth is volt would still be on the "production" line if GM didnt get part of my paycheck. I dont wish anyone to lose thier job, but failing companies should just go and allow the better run ones florish and take over, instead of putting ourselves more in debt as a country bailing them out just because it main ruin the economy and cost people jobs..

No, since a finanical crisis of that magnitude is a once in a lifetime event. So if a company messes up when the financial system is functoning half way decently, you are on your own. And once GM issues their IPO, the government should get most of their money back and millions of jobs were saved. And those employees pay taxes as in TAX REVENUE. I'm hearing a market cap of about $40 billion initially when GM goes public again. GM is doing well sales wise right now and as long as economy stays somewhat normal they should be able to stand up straight. Looks like more people are looking at domestic products again and giving D3 a chance. GM has really pulled away from the pack in sales and Ford is number two ahead of Toyota.

When British Leyland failed after two bailouts folk in the UK never gave up driving cars we just brought Fords or Vauxhall instead but looking back l think to myself maybe l should have brought a Morris Marina instead of Capri, Escorts and Cortina's but then l think then l think no l done the right thing the Morris Marina was a pile of shit so why should l have brought one.

We have 6 Chevy car types you can by in the UK they are all Korean ex Daewoo shit quality is piss poor the worst in the business none of them have got any attributes l look for in a car, why cant Chevy sell just one car with some warm classic charm like an old Stingray or something l would by a new one every few years all you get from Chevy is dull as ditchwater Korean made boring bland junk that you would want to buy in a million years,

Did GM drag a Chrysler designer from the 90's out of retirement to do the Volt? Sure looks like an updated version of a 1995-2000 Dodge Stratus/Plymouth Breeze/Chrysler Cirrus to me.

Don't see the connection except for the fact that both are compact and have four wheels. There is not a single shared styling trait between the two.

 

Personally, I like the Volt and hope it does well for GM.

I don't see much of a connection either. I hope the best for the Volt as well. Let's be real, when the Prius was the talk of the town, everyone here bashed hybrid technology as a fad and not worth any extra money. Now that Ford has embraced hybrids....they ain't so bad. I hope the Volt is a hit so more manufacturers can improve upon it. Someone has to jump in first.
