rmc523
http://www.autoblog.com/2012/08/27/cadillac-may-be-working-on-not-one-not-two-but-several-new-fla/ According to Butler, the ATS will be followed by "ten new models in the next three years." In addition to a replacement for the Escalade SUV and the CTS range moving up the ladder to better compete with the BMW 5 Series, word is there will be a compact crossover on the way to slot under the SRX. ... As expected, in the rollout of models will be a Cadillac version of the Chevrolet Volt, dubbed the ELR. It will be joined by perhaps more than one 'flagship' model. The redesigned Escalade will represent one of those flagships, while some version of the Cadillac Ciel concept is said to be headed for production – albeit a toned-down production reality from the stunning concept. This production Ciel – we're betting on a flagship sedan – will share the Omega platform with a large sedan slotted above the XTS.
akirby
10? I assume they're counting the CTS as 3 (sedan, coupe, wagon)? ATS, XTS and flagship make 6. Escalade, SRX. That's 8. Volt is 9. Compact crossover is 10? Edited August 28, 2012 by akirby
RichardJensen
Now that's what I call 'throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks!' Make a Cadillac Volt? Why not. Make a Cadillac CUV that's smaller than an Escape? Why not. Make the Ciel, even though there are like five people who both want it and can afford it? Why not. Do all this because you think that *this time* Cadillac will save you from bankruptcy? Why not.
silvrsvt
Make a Cadillac CUV that's smaller than an Escape? Why not. So they are going to do a Caddy version of the new Buick Mini-suv? Boy GM is in worse shape then I thought :D
jpd80
And when you think that GM management chooses projects like these in front of a new Silverado, well that's just completely insane in my books. Akerson is either a part of this stupidity or nothing more than a glorified hand puppet. There is no way that Ford would place preference on rebuilding Lincoln with dedicated platform in front of refreshing F150 - that is the difference. And a difference that will IMO cost GM $4,000 to $6,000 cash on the hood until it makes good on a new Silverado. And by the time it arrives, Ford will again leapfrog Silverado with the all new F150. I hope those expensive Cadillacs and Hybrid novelty vehicles were worth it...... Edited September 2, 2012 by jpd80

jpd80
A Cadillac Equinox to compete with a Lincoln Escape... silvrsvt
A Cadillac Equinox to compete with a Lincoln Escape... In addition to compact utes from Germany Caddy has that already...its the SRX...the problem is the SRX is smaller then the MKX, but larger then the Escape. I'm assuming the new one is going to be based off the Buick Encore, which is smaller then the Escape by decent amount 2013 Escape Measurements Width: 72.4 in. Height: 66.3 in. Length: 178.1 in. Ground clearance: 7.9 in. Front track: 61.5 in. Rear track: 61.6 in. Wheel base: 105.9 in. Cargo capacity, all seats in place: 34.3 cu.ft. Maximum cargo capacity: 68.1 cu.ft. Buick Encore Measurements Width: 69.9 in. Height: 64.8 in. Length: 168.5 in. Ground clearance: 6.2 in. Front track: 60.6 in. Rear track: 60.6 in. Wheel base: 100.6 in. Cargo capacity, all seats in place: 18.8 cu.ft. Maximum cargo capacity: 48.4 cu.ft. In Relation to the Fiesta: Measurements Width: 67.8 in. Height: 58.0 in. Length: 160.1 in. Front track: 57.7 in. Rear track: 57.7 in. Wheel base: 98.0 in. Cargo capacity, all seats in place: 15.4 cu.ft. Maximum cargo capacity: 26.0 cu.ft.

I'm assuming the new one is going to be based off the Buick Encore, which is smaller then the Escape by decent amount AFAIK the next SRX is migrating to Alpha architecture, sharing with ATS and next-gen Camaro. Next-gen Equinox and Terrain move to Delta II along with Cruze and Verano. The Encore's utility platform mate, the Chevy Trax, IMHO is the one they should be selling here. But that's an argument for another day.
RichardJensen
AFAIK the next SRX is migrating to Alpha architecture OMG. It really is 'Groundhog day'. What the what are they thinking? "That idea we tried before that failed, let's try it again, and maybe this time it will succeed so wildly that we'll never have to make top line Chevys that compete with Ford. jpd80
It's supposed to make money? Who knew? Amazing when essential products like Silverado appear to miss out on regular updates/refreshes. The problem is that GM has three brands but can't seem to prioritize essential main stream product ahead of aspirational niches..... atomcat68
?? 1. Chevy 2. Buick 3. GMC 4. Cadillac I think he's counting them as 1. Chevy, 2. Buick/GMC 3. Caddy. But they are 4 brands even though it's 3 sets of dealer networks.
jpd80
?? 1. Chevy 2. Buick 3. GMC 4. Cadillac All right then Four brands,it still proves my point that GM's attention, resources and funding is divided causing conflicts in priority.
