Picked up a 2014 Fusion Titanium last night for my wife. It's also Tuxedo Black (I punish myself with this color keeping it clean). I'm using the 2013 Fusion SE now as my daily driver / company car. The truck was horrible on gas as a daily driver.

Now we have (3) Fusions.

Hers - 2014 Fusion Titanium in Tuxedo Black LOADED (daily driver)

His - 2013 Fusion SE in Tuxedo Black w/ Luxury Package and optional 18" black wheels (daily driver)

Daughters - 2010 Fusion SE in Tuxedo Black (daily driver)

Dust collector - 2013 F150 FX2 3.5L TT (driveway queen)

Gpitty,

Super clean car. I was looking at your photobucket pictures when I clicked your photo and noticed your grille is blacked out, along with tints on your headlight and taillight. What kind of tint/overlay/vinyl you use for your lights and grille? I've been seriously considering doing exactly what you did to your grille and lights for a while now, just wasn't sure how it'd look in real life. Really diggin it! Gives it the extra mean-ness I think it's missing. (Still pretty aggressive looking, stock.. But still could use some more in my opinion)

Also, why is your car so shiny?! That paint looks darker then the normal Ford blue..

I did not see your post before, sorry it took so long to answer...

The headlights and tail lights are lamin-x gun smoke, the grill and now roof and mirrors are 3m 1080 vinyl in gloss black. Thanks for the ccompliments, as far as the paint It's just multiple coats of chemical guys blacklight sealant top with a few coats of carnauba and some editing.

She is also lowered now and has a few performance mods.

Nice car, congrats! Can't wait for mine to come in :) I'm not a big fan of the 18" titanium rims either, but didn't really want 19 inch tires either. I'm hoping the 18" rims grow on me.

I'm in the exact same boat. I keep seeing pics the 19" and I think they look great. But I still really don't want 19". Time will tell!

Hi All! I've been lurking for almost a month now. I previously owned a new 2010 Fusion SEL - Tuxedo Black. My baby was rear-ended on April 14th during a late season ice storm and totaled out (it was in perfect shape, but had 95k miles on it).

Two weeks ago I bought a new 2014 Fusion Titanium FWD also Tuxedo Black. I've already had the windows tinted, 35% on all but the windshield, metallic film. Options include Nav, Moonroof, Black H Rims, Heated Seats, and the Driver Assist package. I've also swapped the license plate, trunk, and puddle lamps with LED's. Thinking about the backup lights - probably won't invest the effort in swapping in fogs or HIDs. I am seriously thinking about getting 16" Steels and Blizzaks or other Winter tires.

Attached is a pic I took last week while walking out of a store - so that's why it's somewhat dark and blurry.

I loved my 2010 Fusion, and so far love my Titanium even more!

Here's a pic of the 2010 Fusion. Damage was substantial to the trunk space, back corner of the frame, and while hard to see on that picture, rear quarter panel and both drivers side doors. The driver's door had the handle and keyless entry pad torn off. The other driver slid around on the left shoulder (I was in the left lane and stopped for traffic) when I saw him coming and put my head and back against the seat and headrest. He hit my corner, spun around and slid up backwards against the driver's side of my car. He came to stop with him facing the wrong way and we were looking at each other through the side windows.

First post for me. I bought a 2014 Fusion Titanium about a month ago, a previous rental with about 16K miles on it. I am coming from a 95 Taurus which treated me very well, but age and mileage were creeping up on it, and I was ready for something new with a warranty. The Fusion is a good car, I'm not sure that I love it. Impressions so far:

Likes: 1) It is the best looking midsize sedan on sale today, no question. Everything else in this category looks positively frumpy compared to it. In fact, I probably would've preferred the size and feel of the new Taurus, but the styling was a no-go for me. Same reason, incidentally, that I bought a used 95 Taurus in 96 instead of a new 96! 2) Plenty of power from the Ecoboost 2.0. 3) The options on this compared to my old ride are spoiling me - the leather seats, back-up camera, remote key fob, bluetooth/voice activated calling, heated seats, one-touch up and down on all four windows. And the fold down back seats which allow me to stash my bike in there slightly more easily than in the back seat of my old (larger) car.

Dislikes: 1) The front passenger seat doesn't adjust up and down and is mounted really low. I always have to drive because I can't stand sitting that low to the ground. 2) The trunk lid doesn't stay solidly up when open. It lazily falls down to partially closed. I tried the trunk on another 2014 Fusion to see if it was the same. There was a slight difference - the other car definitely had a detent that would catch the trunk on its way down, but even that wasn't great. Doesn't seem like a very good design, but I'm on dealership visit #3 to try to get it fixed so it doesn't chop off my head. 3) Transmission has a rough 2nd to 3rd upshift and the downshift to 1st can be slow. Between that and my getting used to the turbo and new-car brakes, the whole thing is pretty herky-jerky compared to my old Taurus. Like I'm learning to drive a manual again. 4) Last thing. Maybe I'm getting old, but simple dials for adjusting temp, fan speed, and radio tuning seem a lot faster and safer than hitting a little button multiple times and watching tiny bars on the display. I'm jealous of the Fusion S owners that have that simplicity.

I would've found all these things out with a more thorough test I suppose, but it's been almost two decades since I'd done this, so I didn't pay attention to all of this stuff. I'm getting used to it; I hope in time I will come to like it as much as my old Taurus.

Fusion14ca - Welcome!

The trunk shouldn't do that (obviously) and doesn't on mine, so be persistent in getting it fixed. The shifts are sometimes noticeable...mostly when cold. I echo your complaints about the climate controls. Annoying. I also don't like the heated seat buttons being on the touch screen only in the Titanium.

Its a great car. You'll grow to enjoy it. Like you said, takes a bit of getting used to after getting a much newer car.

Here’s my Fusion.. 2012 SEL v6.

It’s a spare vehicle so it doesn’t see too much road time. Owned it for exactly a year as of yesterday and I’ve racked on about 4 or 5k miles (1,800 of that was a trip to Colorado last October).

Great car. I like it alot.

And I should have my new 2014 Fusion SE in a few months. Excited to see how well that performs. And it’ll be interesting to compare both fusions side by side (I’m keeping the 2012).

I thought that attitude sounded familiar.

Folks - meet Publichair. A troll who was recently banned from the Ford Fusion forum by Robert for personal attacks and general bitchiness.

If you're going to assume a new name you should at least change your car picture and text. $16,100 was also a dead giveaway.

I suggest you cut out the troll crap or you'll get banned again.

Hi, Here's some pictures of our new (well, 5 months old) Fusion Titanium AWD Tuxedo Black. It's fully loaded, except for the navigation system (I prefer my smart phone, or my Garmin Nuvi for long trips). We used to own a 2010 Fusion SE also Tuxedo Black, which we loved very much. We wanted 4WD, so we exchanged it for a 2013 Escape SE 4WD. What a huge mistake! After 1 1/2 year, the engine went on it, so while it was waiting for the replacement engine, we shopped and decided to buy our new Fusion. We love it!!!

I have done some minor modifications to it, including tinting, HID for low beams and fogs, and LEDs replacement. I also painted the calipers Fire Red to match the Brick Red interior.

Here's the LEDs that replace the small W5W lightbulb inside the High Beam housing. They are 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base bought at SuperBrightLEDs. I also installed them for the license plate and the trunk. I am waiting for 2 194 LED Bulb - 19 SMD LED Wedge Base Tower for the back up lights. And 2 festoon bulbs for the puddle lights upgrade (and 2 resistors). Yes, I love lamp. ;)

No pics yet but just leased a 2014 Fusion SE. It's silver, with the black leather interior and painted black 18" rims. Looks very sporty.

Despite having owned or leased four Acuras and a Mercedes C Class, I love the way the Fusion looks, drives, and rides. The Fusion and the 3G Acura TL are the quietest cars I've ever owned.

The options I went with are the luxury package, MyFordTouch (a MUST, to get the automatic temperature controls if nothing else), sunroof, and GPS. The car also came equipped with the reverse sensor and remote start (an option I didn't even know was available; never saw it on the build your own feature on Ford's website).

I REALLY wanted a 2015 bronze fire with the terracotta package but I decided to save about $25 a month and lease the 2014. The terracotta leather is richer-looking than the black, and the package throws the more supportive seats from the Titanium into the SE. That said I find the SE seats extremely comfortable, if less supportive than the Titaniums. Great lumbar support, no back pain even after long drives.

I drove both the SE and Titanium extensively, and didn't feel that the bigger engine and better stereo were worth the cost. I think the 1.5 ecoboost has enough power and (presumably) better mileage. I am questioning that high 30's MPG figure though. I hear I'll get better mileage once the ecoboost breaks in.

Welcome welcome! I upgraded from a 3G TL as well, 2005. Loved the car but the Fusion handles and drives better.

I find the SE seats to be more comfortable than my Titanium seats. I also am not impressed with the fuel economy of the 2.0 really. Happy driving! Sounds like you got a good looking one.

I've had interesting mileage experience with the Fusions.

We rented a 2014 SE to drive (with 1.5 Ecoboost) from Wisconsin to Michigan. If the dashboard mileage computer was accurate, I could not achieve 30mpg on the freeway. Yes, I was resetting the computer on the highway to capture only highway mileage. Best I was getting was 28 to 29.

With my Fusion (same engine) I'm reviewing the mileage results captured over a 30 minute average. I'm consistently around 30mpg, mostly with highway miles but with some city miles as well. Seems a lot better than the rental. I'm having a little trouble finding customers' real-world mileage reports on Fusions with the ecoboost engines.

I bought my 2015 Fusion SE back on Feb. 2, 2015. I was looking at 2 different models that I liked, one a 2014 Titanium, and a Ruby Red SE.
After pricing them both and looking at the differences I went with the 2015 SE. It only had 9 miles on it versus 360 on the 2014 Titanium and a year newer model year. Also the price was several hundred less. It was optioned out real nice, had all the major things I wanted:

2.0 EcoBoost
AWD

18" Wheels

Luxury Interior Group.

I've been out of the country for a couple weeks so haven't had a chance to really drive it that much, but when I do I really enjoy driving it.
I have a Flush Mount rear spoiler on order and once painted and installed I'll post a few pictures of that!

Got my '14 Ruby Red SE a few weeks back

20150222_123500_zps6upitfcf.jpg

Had a '99 Taurus before so this is quite the upgrade! Here the 2 gals are together:

20150307_134717edit_zpsgqrz5pks.jpg

Obviously I love the car. There's some things that are quirky and I prefer the way the Taurus is. Since the ways I love this car are innumerable, I'm going to focus on a few of the peeves.

1) The 60/40 split rear seats. The 40 should be on the driver's side and the 60 on the passenger's side ala the Taurus. As the driver, you're inclined to open the rear door on the driver's side more than the passenger's side. And most of the time, I just want to put down ONE seat so I can fit something longer and narrow in. I want to keep the majority of the seats up if I can. The way it's set up in the Fusion, I either have to put down 60% of the seats or walk to the passenger side.

2) Fuel filler on driver's door. Makes much more sense on passenger side. If you run out of gas on the side of the road, it's much safer. When you go to get gas, 90% of the world has their filler on the driver's side so you get a competitive edge on the passenger side. Also, on the passenger side, when you exit the car, it's to the opposite side of the pump. Thus no banging doors on the pumps/barricades.

3) Lack of intermittent wiper settings. I think there's only like 4 + low and high. The first setting is way too frequent. I just want something that swipes once every minute or so! The Taurus had like 10 settings.

4) Placement of the wiper control. Ford always put the wiper controls on the turn signal stalk. It's where I'm used to it. But I guess there's so many more buttons nowadays that they needed another stalk!

5) Construction of windshield wipers. I like the design of the wipers so that more of the windshield is cleared, but they seem really flimsy. Also, I'm worried about next winter and ice building up in the area between the windshield and the hood where the wipers "park". Add to the fact that the windshield washer nozzles are in this same area spells disaster. I had a 1993 Taurus that had a very similar setup. Nozzles in the cowl, and wipers that parked in a valley between the hood and windshield. Ice/snow would always collect there and block the nozzles/freeze up the wipers. The '99 solved this issue by having no such valley, nozzles mounted on the hood, and wipers that parked much higher up on the windshield.

6) The valley between the rear windshield and the trunk lid. Again, snow/ice collects here and when you open the trunk you hear this loud sound of the ice cracking. Then it spills into the trunk and makes another noise when you close. Again, the '99 was much better because it had no such valley. The rear windshiled was level with the trunk lid so snow just slid right off.

7) Touch capative controls. Impossible to use with gloves on.

8) Passenger seat is only 4 way power adjustable. You see the controls and think "ooo I bet it can go up and down, side to side and recline up and down!". But nope, it just goes back and forth and reclines. No up and down.

9) Flat glove box. The glovebox has shelfs and looks way bigger than it actually is. Also, why does the light only illuminate the bottom shelf? The fact it has any light at all and a lock are two big thumbs up though. I guess I miss the more "bin" style glovebox where you could just throw all your crap in it and it would hold it.

10) Single rear interior light. What happened to the days where each rear passenger got their own light?

11) No footwell lights.

12) "Max Defrost". I don't understand what the point of this is. Are you supposed to use it when you first get into your car on a really cold day? No, because all it would do is blow cold air in your face until the car warms up. So when do you use it? After you've been driving the car around for a while and it's warm? Again, no, because by that time, just the regular defrost would have cleared most of it off, making "Max Defrost" unnecessary. "Max A/C" in cars makes sense because A/C systems blow cold immediately upon start up. Plus recycling already cool cabin air makes it more efficient than drawing in hot outside air. You don't get the same thing with Max Defrost. A car takes time to warm up and it's better to use outside air to defrost since inside air is more humid and will fog up your windows!

13) 2.0L Ecoboost with AWD is a bit of a gas pig but I had read so many reviews of the car with similar complaints, that I was expecting it.

But again, those are just nit picks. I really love the car. And yes, I see the irony in it because it sounds like I just flammed the car lol.

My favourite features are:

1) Sync/MFT. Don't understand why people hate this so. I have no issues.

2) Electrochromatic rear/side mirror. No more blinding glare at night!

3) LED turn signals in side mirrors. Just plain cool.

4) LED lights everywhere!

5) Global open/close. Will get lots of use this summer.

6) Turn signal. I think Ford perfected the "auto turn signal" or whatever it's called. Touch up/down once and you get 3 blinks. Push up/down, stalk is held in position and blinks continuously until you turn or shut if off manually. The previous system that was simply touch up/down and the car figures out if you are just changing lanes or turning often made mistakes.

7) Heated seats. 3 settings FTW!

8) Sound system. I just have the 6 speaker system and it sounds great!

9) Safety. So many airbags and those A pillars are as thick as telephone poles! Knee airbags are always a favourite when going over the features with friends/family.

10) Good headlights. As with every Fusion generation so far, the headlights are bright and the hi beams are SUPER bright!

I picked my 2015 RR Fusion SE up on February 2nd, and it hasn't seen snow or rain. Lucked out with the rain, just didn't need to go out on those couple days! :-) I'm not sure what if anything is different as far as standard and optional equipment between the 14 & 15, but there may be some minor things.
As mentioned above the nit picks are pretty much that, none of those other me. Many of the things I've noticed on the Fusion are very similar to my wife's 2007 C230 Sport, like the heated seat controls and symbols, fit and finish of the sunroof, the global open/close and several other features.
By the way the wipers have 5 intermittent settings, plus Single wipe by pushing down, Normal & High speed wipe and Speed dependent wipers, when the vehicle increases speed, the interval between wipers decreases.
Overall I love driving the car and can't wait to take it on a road trip into the mountains! There is snow there so that will wait til June. My wifes C230 got about 29 mpg on a 400 mile trip in that direction, and I expect about the same in the Fusion. At the moment I'm averaging 22+ mpg which is mainly in town driving. I had a 4.6L V8 in my Sport Trac and the best I ever got with that was right about 21-22 mpg which was 100% freeway driving, so you can see, I have no issue in that area.
I have similar pedals that the Titanium has, the stainless steel & rubber, but also the dead pedal has that look, I'll put those on as soon as I get them. The look exactly like the "Mondeo" has. Also on order I have a flush mount spoiler which I can't wait to get. I didn't care for the regular higher spoiler from Ford. I'll post pictures once this is all installed. If you open the little picture of my car you'll see the mud flaps on the car, not too big or bad looking. Also I have WeatherTech window deflectors. Love their in channel design, not stuck on. When it's in the 90° - 105° range it's great to crack open the windows, and you don't have to worry about anything falling into the car.
BTW: Where in Ontario do you live? I lived in Brampton, Kitchener & Mississauga last, before moving west!

They are nit picks, but I'm the kind of person that gets set in his ways lol. The only reason I complain about the intermittent wipers is because when I picked up the car, it was during a bit of a snow storm. Very wet snow. The whole drive home I couldn't find a good speed for the wipers. It was always way too frequent and the blades would chatter. When driving in snow, as long as your windshield is hot, it will melt the snow on contact, so you really only need the occaisional swipe to get rid of the water buildup. I kept on having to use the 1 swipe feature which I forgot to put on my list of favourite things...

I like the factory spoiler and have been thinking of getting one. I don't know if it would look out of place with the "luxury" look of the vehicle. Maybe that's why you chose the lower profile one.

The first mod I did to it was remove the dealer plaque from the trunk and I got rid of some stickers on the windows. There were 2 of those "this vehicle is protected by VIN LOCK" or whatever and one on the passenger window that says "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" but in french.

I ordered some LEDs for the reverse lights and license plate lights. Hopefully I'll have them by the end of the week.

I also ordered a couple LED module type lights as I want to test adding some footwell lighting/ambient lighting. I need to find some wiring diagrams of the car but there's not that much out there!

I would also like to get a hood strut kit that Steeda makes. Get rid of the damn prop rod.

I live in Niagara!

It's been since 1998 since I've been to Niagara falls, our daughter's 7th birthday, she's almost 23 now. The last time in the Toronto area was 2006 for my mom's funeral. Guess I should plan a trip to visit my sister and friends again.

The dealer plaque/stickers/license plate frames are also something I get rid off as soon as I get home. Mine didn't have a sticker since the car had just come in and was on the dealers inventory overflow lot. The only window sticker is for the "SiriusXM". May have to lose that!

I guess I have "nitpicks" too, just call them things I can live with. :-) The hood struts would be nice. One reason I didn't go with a OEM look spoiler was you had to drill holes, the flush spoiler doesn't require that, and it's a little lower. Should be here soon I hope, and the Aluminum brake & accelerator covers.

A wiring diagram would be handy. I'm sure the wiring harnesses are pretty much the same over the model lines, just need to know where to access connectors. I'll have to see if I can find one.

I still don't get the angst over prop rods. I've had them on almost all my vehicles the last 20+ years and it's never been a problem. And I've never had to replace a strut either.

No angst, just a convenience item. My Sport Trac had them and it was nice to just open the hood...

I doubt I would ever get them.

When you buy used, they will put that vehicle protector junk on as a way to jack up the price. They put it on before you buy the car so there's no way to "opt out" of it.

It's gone now though! I don't think mine has a Sirius sticker... Weird.

The hole drilling for the spoiler doesn't bother me too much. As long as you get a good template and use a sharp drill bit. Also it probably helps to put masking tape around the holes just in case you miss the mark. But again, I'm not 100% that I want a spoiler just yet.

As for the wiring, all I really want to know is which wire is for the interior courtesy lights and where the harness runs. There has to be a wire that runs up to the headliner somewhere and that's all I would need for the footwell lights. I also just have to be cautious of the placement of them. Keep them out of the way of the knee airbags.

I just find it's a more finished look and you don't have to have a prop rod in your face when working under the hood.
