Sensors (particularly the MAF) on modern cars really don't like K&N filters because they’re presoaked with oil.

The biggest problem with oiled gauze air filters is that they get dirty/clog very quickly.  They maybe "lifetime", but they require more frequent cleaning.

As mentioned, they are known to cause MAF problems.

FYI:  Ecoboost Mustangs don’t have a MAF either.

I can't think of any EcoBoost with a MAF at the moment. They use speed/density from Baro/MAP/TCBP which, I imagine is easier to nail down with turbos than MAF.

2011-14 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost have MAF.

Fairly sure those are TCIPT (TurboCharger Intake Pressure Temp)  not MAF. The connector is similar and it is located in the cover of the air cleaner.

But I've been wrong before....

Head over to rockauto. They list a MAF for 2014 3.5EB F150. It sure looked like one when the CAI went on my Pops truck.
