They just developed the Chinese Edge specifically for that market, why would it "likely" be going away? I also don't think we've seen any indication that the Territory/Equator are going to C2 (even if putting them all on a global platform makes sense).

We've known this for a while. Size wise, I think it's going to straddle Escape and Edge sizes, allowing the next-gen BS to grow a bit.

There is a lot of fog surrounding the next gen C2 product strategy. Current Bronco Sport is for all intent and purpose the Maverick CUV... they share the same platform, powertrain packages, and assembly plant. So it makes sense that they would be replaced together again. And I think it is really crucial that Ford makes them global products so markets like Australia for example can be baked in the business plan from the start. The other part of the C2 future is in China. Edge is likely going away so that leaves Territory and Equator. It doesn't make any sense to leave Territory and Equator out on an island by themselves so they will most likely merge into the C2 program, albeit cost optimized for China and emerging markets. The open question is just how closely related they will be to Maverick and Bronco Sport. These are the products that we know will survive beyond the current gen and their known platforms: Model name in " " are guesses CUVs B-segment short "Fiesta" Renault-EV platform B-segment long Puma BX C-segment short Bronco Sport C2 C-segment short "Focus" Renault-EV platform C-segment long Territory (likely) C2 aka "Maverick CUV" C-segment long Escape UEV D-segment short Mach E ??? platform undefined but most likely UEV D-segment long Edge/Equator C2 Non-CUV CD pickup Maverick C2 CD pickup Maverick UEV CD sedan "Fusion" UEV B-segment van Transit Courier BX C-segment van Transit Connect C2 aka "Maverick van" You can see the strategy emerging... ICE will be based on BX or C2 (obvious) and the EV will either be based on the Renault platform or UEV.

CX code usually means it is developed by Ford's car engineering division, which was largely based in Germany. This engineering team has been decimated by Farley's deliberate cuts as a means to end product engineering and assembly in Europe. Any future CX projects will likely originates from Jiangling Ford (like Territory, which is CX743MCA). U code usually means it is developed by Ford's truck engineering division, which is largely based in Detroit. What we can surmise from this is that there is a Maverick adjacent CUV in the works. What we cannot determine is the size or price target, yet.
