  1. Where are the pictures?!!! Lets see this beautiful new SHO.
  2. The only thing they could do to screw up more is to kill the S2000...oh wait...
  3. Wireless recharging has about a >90% efficiency a few mms away (think toothbrush charger, cell phone pad charging) The problem I have seen with most medium-long range recharging based on the companies working on it in the Bay Area is the low energy efficiency level once you go beyond a few mms away. For example, one company demonstrated their charging systems that used IR waves that could power a light bulb or charge a cellphone a few feet away. It looked amazing! One of my friends in the investment community then asked, "How efficient is it?". He said, "Well, it is only a 10% efficiency, but we don't plan to use it to charge an automobile". You CAN charge an automobile by wireless charging, but why use 160kWhs when you can use 16kWhs to get the same charging level out of your vehicle (based on the Chevy Volt battery package size)? I think the thrill of wireless charging would disappear when people realize they are going to increase their charging cost 10 times. The technology is not ready for an automotive application and I doubt it will be in the next 5 years.
  4. If someone asked 5 years ago if there was an American car at the top of its class I wouldn't have any to point to. There are so many quality/safe/reliable/fast/affordable American cars on the market today it is hard to take the Pilot's comment seriously. If you want to spend $42,000 on a BMW 335i coupe /w only 300hp and 26mpg good for you, but for most people who want to spend $20-$30,000 they can get a Ford Mustang /w 315hp and 30mpg. You're paying a lot of $$$$ for worse performance and efficiency of a supposed superior vehicle. World Class American cars -Cadillac CTS-V (It beat the MB E-class AMG for $40,000 less!) -Corvette ZR-1 (Fastest production vehicle on nurburgring) -Ford F-150 Raptor (80mph in the desert / Competes in the Baja 1000 / $38,000 (less then a Tundra LTD) -GMC Sierra -Ford Mustang GT500 (Most affordable $/Hp and soon to outrun an M3 on a track) -Ford Fusion Hybrid/Mercury Milan Hybrid (41mpg (better then VW's TDI system) / Durability & quality levels unsurpassed by Toyota / Motor trend car of the year) -Ford Fiesta ( 40mpg / affordable price / class-leading handling / one of the best selling vehicles world wide ) -Lincoln MKT (365hp and 23mpg better MPG then a BMW 550i / automated parking / adaptive cruise control /refrigerator / collision warning and braking support / MyKey / Sync ) -Ford Ka My next car is a Cadillac CTS-V and for $65,000 /w 550hp I can't get a better car for the money. BMW M5 500hp $85,500 MB E-class AMG 518hp $85,750 Audi S6 435hp $76,100 Lexus IS-F 416hp $57,600
  5. Ford should "accidentally" burn down the plant in Venezuela. Ford has the following vehicles in Venezuela The plant in Venezuela produces the following: Festiva Last-gen Fiesta Laser and Explorer
  6. What data sources are they using to create their projections for the Fiesta?
  7. I know there is plenty to be hammered out in terms of fuel economy, such as engine type, final curb weight, and aerodynamics, but looking at the Highlanders fuel economy /w a 2.7L I4 rated at 187hp versus the Ford 2.0L I4 (non-PHEV calibration) rated at 140hp combined, I think there is a strong possiblity for the Ford Explorer to be rated at 22/29 versus the current 14/20. For comparison: 2010 Toyota Highlander 2.7 I4 20/27
  8. 4 years ago I was having trouble finding a single American car that I liked. Now I don't know which American car to buy next: -Ford Mustang GT (or even the V6 /w 305hp) -2011 Focus (if it is as good as the Fiesta) -Ford Fiesta Hatchback -MKS Ecoboost -Ford Escape -Cadillac CTS -Chevrolet Volt -Cadillac Converj I can't wait for my Mazda3 to die on me...well, not too soon....so that I can test drive all these vehicles. It's going to be a lot of fun!
  9. Our neighbor down the street who has owned only Hondas their entire life just purchased a brand new 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. I've even seen some of the Lexus crowd in San Francisco begin to purchase the MKTs and MKSs. The MKS ecoboost looks SHARP in real life (I'm obviously biased). Only thing that could make Ford/Lincoln better is if they launched the MKR and MKC.
  10. That leaves the Mountaineer which I'm guessing will be taken off next year with the redesigned Explorer and Grand Marquis which I think will become fleet-only at some point.
  11. Everyone I know who developed patents working at ford were entitled a generous royalty agreement although did not own the patent. He may have "the idea", but did Ford prototype and fund the idea? If they did I doubt it his suit will stand up in court.
  12. Chrysler 300C /w 360HP. Lets be real though, nobody would pick a 300C over a SHO.
  13. David Kiley changed his article after I exposed his flawed argument. Here's the comment I left and the response I got, "Dear David Kiley, According to your article, you insinuate that Ford is utilizing Toyota's hybrid technology by saying, "That’s is a neat trick considering that Ford utilizes some of Toyota’s hybrid technology" . Yet, Doron Levin, a Bloomberg Columnist corrected this mis-perception on April 22nd, 2004 in his article entitled "Ford disputes View its Hybrid is a Toyota". Officially Toyota has been gracious toward the Escape hybrid. ``We're thrilled that there's another manufacturer entering the hybrid arena,'' said Irv Miller, Toyota's group vice president for communications. ``It adds further to our belief the technology is viable.'' Levin goes on to say, "Miller acknowledged the accuracy of Ford's version of events regarding the patent agreement. ``They thought their software was close enough that they wanted to protect themselves,'' he said". source: Levin, Doron. "Ford Disputes View That Its Hybrid Is a Toyota". Bloomberg. 12/29/08 . From Kiley: I never said that the ford was a toyota....simply that ford utilizes some licensed technology from toyota...."
  14. This is my favorite one "In addition, foreign companies are de-tuning and raising rear end ratios as we speak, and doing it on their long time production platforms...economically. Whereas American mfgs. have to re-tool, drop clunky platforms and cubic inched engines and redesign. Big difference in $$$$$." and they are still talking about Ford using Toyota's hybrid technology when Toyota came out and said that Ford was using a separate system. In college we get hounded for not citing our sources, yet a guy at Business week won't get in trouble for saying an outright lie.
  15. Toyota's Marketshare (as of Dec. 1st 2008) 2008: 14.6% (Truck: 12.3% Car: 16.8%) 2007: 13.8% (Truck: 12.4% Car: 15.2%) Ford's Marketshare (as of Dec. 1st 2008) 2008: 13.7% (Truck: 20.3% Car: 7.2%) 2007: 12.4% (Truck: 17.6% Car: 7.1%) Chevrolet's Marketshare (as of Dec. 1st 2008) 2008: 12.7% (Truck: 15.7% Car: 9.7%) 2007: 12.7% (Truck: 15.4% Car:10.0%) Who's losing marketshare? 16. Its called Risk Management or Hedging. Ford thought it was important, GM & Chrysler didn't
  17. Sure let them go bankrupt, who cares if the Michigan unemployment rate spikes to 12-15% and drags the rest of the economy further into the ground. Who cares that the majority of the automotive suppliers will file for chapter 13. Who cares that the automotive dealers will have to layoff large portions of their workforce. Who cares about the lost tax revenue. Who cares about the lost knowledge base. Who cares about the jobs, they will be replaced by Wal-mart and Burger King , then we can all service each other. All I care about is my money, so don't mess with my money.
  18. If I wanted a civic interior I'd buy one. What happened to Mazda designing interiors that are unique to them.
  19. I HATE it, and for the record I drive a Mazda3. After seeing that I am much more likely to buy a Fiesta.
  20. I thought it was just the MKX receiving the 3.7l to differentiate it.
