range
Well looky here, it seems the Escape that was supposed to "bomb" and be "a total failure" has caught up to the CRV. And look at those results adding the Mariner in. Escape = 18,517 CRV = 18,974 Escape+Mariner = 22,301 CRV = 18,974 Escape + Mariner + Trib = 23,869 CRV = 18,

Wait until it gets new drivetrain in August and has Sync as option. It should be number one small ute by September. Throw in third generation hybrid model and you have formidable lineup. range
Job 1 is 6/23 for the 09 Escape. The Escape will have the two new engines and a 6 speed auto, something Honda does not produce for any of their vehicles.

Wouldn't it be a somewhat better, and a bit more accurate to compare like-to-like? Escape + Mariner + Trib = 23,869 CRV + RDX = 20,731 :D And, yes, I know that CR-V & RDX aren't exactly the same kind of stable-mates as Escape/Mariner/Tribute. The CR-V and RDX are only closely related, not twins. I just thought it was funny that you can't even 'fudge' the Honda numbers to match Ford's. Edstock
Does that mean the Escape is a segment leader? 'Sario is going to be pissed.
pcsario
LOL I4 Escape + V6 Escape + Hybrid Escape + fleet sales Vs. Only 1 CR-V + Strong RETAIL demand = CR-V outsold the Escape YET AGAIN despite the massive disadvantage. Very impressive indeed Range, keep grasping at straws. range
pcsario seems a little testy. Perhaps its because his predictions have been proven wrong once again. Sorry pcsario, I'm sure you're very mad that the Escape it doing so well.
pcsario
Fuck it gets worse when you add the sales from all the platform mates I4 Escape + V6 Escape + Hybrid Escape + I4 Marineer + V6 Marineer + I4 Tribute + V6 Tribute 23,869 CR-V 18,974 7 Vs. 1, didn't even include the Acura platform mate, and he could only make up a ~4k difference. range
don't forget to add all the different colors too! Blue + Red + White + Black + Grey + Yea, you're right pcsario, the new Escape is a total failure!!! LOL Your prediction from last year just more and more laughable. It must be fun to live in a land of denial. Edited April 2, 2008 by range

range
does repeating info in larger characters somehow make your failed predictions of the new Escape somehow go away?
SVT_MAN
$20,700 CRV I4 $19,140 Escape I4 $28,400 CRV I4 (base MSRP top end) $24,190 Escape V6 (base MSRP top end) The only thing I see different between the CRV and the Escape is that the CRV doesn't offer a V6 and the CRV also doesn't offer a compelling reason to spend $28,400 on a 4wd top-of-the-line model. What sort of engine it has doesn't figure into the equation.
range
here, I wanna try your technique...... does repeating info in larger characters somehow make your failed predictions of the new Escape somehow go away? wow, that's pretty cool
twintornados
so, according to pcsario....the Escape platform is available in more iterations than the CR-V....and thereby makes for wider appeal. Gotta "CRaVe" the way Honda has a "buy-it-the-way-we-build-it-or-take-a-hike" syndrome. Hey...CR-V did well in the face of todays slowing economy....just that Ford was able to move more of its versions.
pcsario
failed predictions of the new Escape Does ignoring the reality where Ford dumps ~30% Escapes to fleets, where you have to remove the Acura platform mate numbers, make the truth somehow go away range? I thought the "new" Escape was supposed to recover Ford's lost sales crowns away from the CR-V? Oh you're projecting yet again with that failed predictions thing, silly me. Let me guess, once the MKS is out you'll pull the same crap again and say people were wrong about the 500, because after all, when you add up the sales from all platform mates it outsells the 300. PC, not to take sides here but I believe a lot of the hybrids are going to fleet sales and Ford saying little or no discount on them. CD2 is pretty long in the tooth, we would prefer the Kuga but Aus is stuck with Asian Escape - twice as ugly!!!!
SVT_MAN
It doesnt seem like anybody has considered the type of fleet sale either. Not all fleet sales are bad ...
pcsario
Unfortunately for pcsario backed himself into a corner with that argument. What argument? The one where the Escape still can't outsell the CR-V? The one where you keep playing dumb about high fleet sales? The one where the Escape failed to recover the sales crowns lost to the CR-V? The one where the Escape, Marineer, and Tribute combined can't outsell the CR-V + its Acura platform mate? Keep reaching for that rainbow range. Thanks for the laughs.
