twintornados
Now that Ford PI and UI are beginning to take over the police market, Ford should consider making the PI chassis available for livery/fleet/taxi use. Damn near indestructible platform with 3.7L V6 for power should please the fleets and make the customers happy....whaddaya think of this?
Hugh
Not adverse to it. IMO, the D35 is ample for this application. It's flex-fuel and IIRC can be converted to CNG. Edited February 27, 2013 by Hugh
2b2
Should Ford consider making the PI chassis available for livery/fleet/taxi use? Imho not until the CD4+3 Taurus is ready for retail-primetime but even then, aren't a lot of the bigger markets changing over to hybrids &or Cuvs for taxis? Retail Über alles Livery!! jpd80
Probably find that taxis would prefer something like a Transit Connect hybrid.. Edited February 27, 2013 by jpd80
Bob Rosadini
IMO, getting in and out of a Taurus is not the easiest thing for someone with "ample" dimensions.
NickF1011
I see plenty of D3 taxis here around BWI already. Lots of Camrys too.

jpd80
MKT Town Car anyone? I always thought MKS should have had the 119" wheelbase to make it a true large luxury vehicle Allowing MKZ some more wiggle room to increase size, making room for a compact below.. I think it'll be a safe guess to assume MKS's interior dimensions and/or wheelbase will grow with the next generation.

Hoser768
IMO, getting in and out of a Taurus is not the easiest thing for someone with "ample" dimensions. That's one of the things that the 09 -10 changeover did not improve.
theoldwizard
I always thought MKS should have had the 119" wheelbase to make it a true large luxury vehicle This is basically what Volvo did withe the S80L in China.
jpd80
This is basically what Volvo did withe the S80L in China. Actually, S80 is on P24 which is the Volvo variation of Ford's EUCD which has now evolved into CD4 with arguably same or better capability. I would expect the CD4 based MKS to be as good as or better than the S80 with ability to develop a companion SUV - like maybe a new Aviator?
