RichardJensen
I'm probably the only one on the board who associated the monoliths in 2001 with the name "Sentinel" Edited October 7, 2014 by RichardJensen

grbeck
For me it's People not familiar with military or nautical terms probably won't make the connection. Most people, for example, probably have no idea that "corvette" was originally used as a name for a type of warship.
jesster1228
"Sentinel" always reminds of the automatic on/off headlights in Cadillacs.
2b2
don't understand thinking of a serial murderer before the stars in the sky but an old Fordish Name is what I had in mind for the inflatable boats; I think Jacques-Yves Cousteau
grbeck
Those Zodiacs were never sold in the U.S., so I'd wager that most Americans have never heard of them. I knew of the British Ford Zodiac because Matchbox offered a version of the Zodiac (not that one - it was the next-generation Zodiac) in the late 1960s. Edstock
Ford of Canada sold 'em in the 50's, as I remember. The convertible was really charming, like a baby 56 Ford. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Zephyr
grbeck
That's a sharp car. Matchbox featured both the sedan and convertible Zodiacs from that generation in its 1-75 line. If you look at the Zodiac convertible closely, you can see that it's just the sedan without the roof. The rear door cut-out lines are still visible.
