RichardJensen
From one Gen Xer to another, you may have noticed that Millennials are busy making the same mistakes their parents made. That, I suppose, includes gigantic hood decals. Anthony
I hate to admit it, but Toyota stole the show with the Camry drag car. That thing cracks me up! http://www.carthrottle.com/what-looks-like-a-boring-toyota-camry-is-actually-an-850bhp-drag-racer/

That thing cracks me up! http://www.carthrottle.com/what-looks-like-a-boring-toyota-camry-is-actually-an-850bhp-drag-racer/ Doesn't the NASCAR Camry already have a 850 hp 5.7L V8? Anthony
The NASCAR Camry doesn't look like every other Camry on the road. This isn't stickers on a plastic shell. This is a real Camry with working doors, trunk, lights, windshield wipers...etc draped over a tube frame. Pretty dang funny. It's almost as if they are poking fun at themselves. akirby
I just meant for the chassis and the drivetrain. I understand this was just a fun project - I was just pointing out that a tube frame race car with a 850 hp Toyota 5.7L V8 already exists. Where did you see that it has working doors, trunk, lights, etc.?
Anthony
Where did you see that it has working doors, trunk, lights, etc.? Sorry, it was written in a different article: http://wot.motortrend.com/1411_toyota_sleeper_camry_debuts_at_sema_is_true_to_its_name.html Even more impressive is the fact that Toyota Racing began work on the project in August. The team is proud of the attention to detail and it’s easy to see why. The car will only seat the driver, but all four-doors are completely functional, as are the exterior lights. The front tires are stock, but the walls of the aforementioned rear tires were shaven smooth in an effort to conceal their drag-slick identity. Meanwhile, the trunk is occupied by four large canisters – one for the nitrous, while the other 3 tanks are part of the air rams that help lift and lower the Camry bodyshell. In the article they also have pics of the trunk open.

goinbroke2
Like a fat girl on a moped......if it was 1500hp and did 7's in the quarter..it'd still be a camry. Ford, chev.dodge, heck dihatsu could build a one-off vehicle and say "look what we did"! but what is the point? Does anyone now think toyota knows how to build a drag car? Does anyone think that toyota will now join the ponycar wars? Or include a vehicle in Factory stock program like the cobra jet, copo and dragpack challenger??? Then what is the point of it? Ooooh look, we built a one-off tundra with 54" monster truck tires.....so?
