Deanh Posted March 4, 2015 Share Posted March 4, 2015 bets are on, I say just over 200 plus, just under 400k no....you cannot be the new guy on the block and expect to compete head on price wise from the get go....ESPECIALLY against true exotic s such as Ferrari, McLaren and to an extent lambo ( I say extent because the same floor plan is avail on the R8 in an AUDI ) I say undercut and offer similar performance...THATS a coup. I'm sure all the carbon fiber parts are being hand molded and hand shaped to be installed. It starts @ $53k. Of course, at this price, Ford has to deliver a VERY competitive GT car. If not, this will go down as Johan de Nysschen dream pricing. I'll hold off on berating them until we see how it performs against other similarly priced cars. P.S. Before anyone asks, yes...you can buy almost 17 V6 Mustangs for the same price. OHV 16V Posted March 4, 2015 Share Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) The GT isn't aimed at cars like the Ferrari 458 (soon to be replaced by the new 488), McLaren 650S, and Lamborghini Huracán (which shares a platform with the Audi R8 as Dean suggests), but at the "bigger" fish like Ferrari's F12berlinetta, McLaren's new 675LT Limited, and the Lamborghini Aventador (unique platform). The new GT will have that level of engineering/performance/sophistication. Check out the pricing on the latter three cars and then tell me if anyone thinks Ford's being ridiculous. You obviously have a good viewpoint from a dealership/sales perspective that the rest of us don't, so hopefully Ford took that under consideration when making these decisions. I can only add that if the 250 units-per-year number is adhered to, it will hopefully make the GT exclusive enough that the demand is always there. The history of GT40 was to beat Ferrari right? It's keeping with the spirit of the project at least. Hell throw a Lincoln emblem on the GT and call it day.
