Harley Lover
Offers sound cancellation, additional sound deadening, and other upgrades. Europe is aiming the Edge against more upscale competition in Europe: http://europe.autonews.com/article/20160805/ANE/160729933/ford-makes-edge-its-european-flagship?cciid=email-ane-daily

twintornados
Vignale is the "Lincoln of Europe" where Lincoln is not in the market....
BORG
Would love an Edge Platinum.
blwnsmoke
^^^ with the 2.7... absolutely. I'm going to be down sizing from my explorer and am most likely going with the Edge Sport unless they come out with a higher trim with the 2.7. jasonj80
With the success of the Fusion and Explorer Platinum it is all but assured there will be an Edge Platinum, and yes they look very nice in person.
BORG
I have to admit, if they do produce an Edge Platinum I would probably not buy an MKX. But don't tell Ford that.
bzcat
Vignale is the "Lincoln of Europe" where Lincoln is not in the market.... More like Vignale is the "Platinum of Europe" where Platinum is not use as the top Ford trim level. Ford will be shooting fish in the barrel with Edge Platinum here... akirby
Except Vignale includes a lot of Lincoln only features that aren't available on Ford platinums.
jpd80
So Edge Vignale is both an Edge Platinum and a pseudo Lincoln MKX. That seems entirely logical in a market with no history or the likelihood of ever seeing Lincoln.
BORG
Ford is one of the few brands in Europe with no luxury car business which is where the margins are. Remember that Vignale also has a unique service and dealership experience, somewhat similar to the Black Label treatment with its own lounge. Ideally this will organically spinoff into something more significant and maybe even merge some Lincoln products.
StangBang
I can see where an actual Lincoln may be able to slip in as a Ford Vignale badged model in a case where a Lincoln model offers something that a Ford does not. Lincoln has no brand recognition in Europe but Ford has always lacked a luxury arm there.

rmc523
I could see Lincoln eventually making its way to Europe, but we're talking a decade out at least. Once the brand becomes stable in China (and re-established here of course), I could see a slow, methodical expansion into Europe.

I like that Ford is chasing premium customers, it shows that continuing to elevate the brand's perception with European buyers can pay big dividends. A lot od what's considered Luxury brands in Nth America actually span the premium and luxury segments in Europe and the main reason why BMW, MB and Audi do so well on their home turf is that well drilled produt portfolio than makes buyers feel as though those vehicles have been built just for them. That's the mindset Ford needs to plug into and start grabbing hold of a big slice. Titanium, Titanium Plus and now Vignale is the way to do this.. Harley Lover
Assuming these are coming from Canada, I wonder if it would be possible for an owner in the U.S. to get hands on some of the Euro pieces (for example the grill) and do some modding of their Edge?
