That would be cool, but I don’t see ford doing that on this vehicle. The wording that was used in the order guide was roof conversion, low opening. I could see it being some sort of roof cargo system, maybe like the xterra (storage compartment was on the lower part of the roof, maybe that’s what they mean by lower opening).2007-nissan-xterra-7.jpg

I’d say it’s a long shot, but maybe it’s something like this:ford-s-retractable-cloth-roof-patent-draford-s-retractable-cloth-roof-patent-dra

I swear Nissan must be kicking themselves that they didn't keep the Xterra. Always liked them.

I think it shares a lot but not because they built them in Hermosillo.

I don't think they would have already built 44 of them by hand there, they would have had to come off the line, which means it's literally sharing a line with the Fusion because production of those doesn't end until August.

BOF Town car and unibody Lincoln LS shared an assembly line - what’s your point?

I was under the impression it was stopping much sooner then that-The BS should be at dealerships in October...

Are C1/C2 minimally "compatible" with B2/B3?

As I understand it, they didn’t start as common but have been rolled into one over arching “architecture” which to me is code for grouping engineering modules and cost centres.

It was designed with that in mind though. To my knowledge, Hermosillo as currently currently wasn't.

With C1/C2 and EUCD/CD4, the construction process Was standardised so while the parts are different they use the same work stations and assembly sequence and processes.

Remember tat some of the prep work for Focus had already been done at Hermosillo, so I bet Ford made good use of that for the other C2s

I wonder if B2 work stations and assembly processes for the Ecosport in Bahia/BR could be converted (in an economical fashion) to produce a C2 NG Territory (now that Argentina seems to have been ruled out)
