Does the gas cap irritate anyone else?

Recommended Posts

When I turn the gas cap that little plastic  retainer piece that goes to the hinge  Always wants to spin with the gas cap and then it does a little loop de loop and bind up...

I have to use one hand to hold the plastic retainer And the other hand to spin the cap in the cap so it does not bind up...

Anyone else have this issue, and if so,  Is there a replacement cap that's better.

It's bugging me enough where I'm about to cut that retainer...(.....and.....then.?.. I'll leave my gas cap on the toolbox and drive off with it up there and have to buy a new gas cap anyways, so I might as well just buy a better replacement now.....That way I'm a diligent guy trying to rectify a situation and not a moron that left his gas cap on the toolbox???)

Either way it's going to happen?

Yep, experiencing the same issue and it’s highly annoying. Ford is too cheap to put the capless filler on the Superduty gassers like on the F-150. The Superduty setup pretty much sucks.

Capless sucks IMO...one of mine works fine the other is a total PITA as stated above.

Is there a specific reason it doesn't have a push-thru gas cap that you don't have to remove every time you fill up? My 16 F150 has one as does my wife's suburban. Can't remember the last time I had to unscrew a gas cap, though if the 2022 F250s all have screw ons, then I will be doing so next week.

I can’t see any reason other than what I stated in my previous post. You will be screwing it on next week.
