damooch
Waited over 9 months, for a top performance truck, nearly 60K, and issues from the start. First a drive train whistling, probably front drive shaft, and at less than 900 miles cam phaser issue. Very sad. Working with Ford to see what the next move is. They claim they want to replace them, but need to pull the motor out to replace, I am leery, don't want a rebuilt motor at 900 miles, I want a new motor dropped in. Opened my case several days ago, waiting on a response. I have owned dozens of Ford over the past 50 years, from F150 Raptors to Shelby GT500, I am a loyal Ford buyer and fan, I even work at a dealership. Just very disappointed at this point. Not sure how the cam phaser issue can still be an issue after years of having them on almost all the Eco line. Crossing fingers Ford does the right thing. silvrsvt
Uh the 2.0L Ecoboost doesn’t have a cam phaser in it and the 2.7L isn’t available for the Ranger yet. Don't answer posts at traffic stops! Edited June 11 by silvrsvt

Raptor gets the 3.0L. Base Ranger doesn’t have the 2.0, it has the 2.3 which IIRC does have cam phasers

damooch
Ok other than the BS posts thus far, this issue is serious, I am not the only one with cam phaser issues on the new Raptor with the "3.0". And with less than 900 miles, others are failing at the same low miles, at an alarming rate. I think thus far I have seen a half dozen in several forums. . This should not be happening in this day and age, these phasers have been issues for years, and these are flag ship performance vehicles? Here I sit, Ford is aware, still no response as to next move, ugh.
tbone
Isn’t this the same 3.0 that is in the ST, Aviator, and Braptor? I have had two STs with with no engine troubles. Sounds like a bad batch of motors if the Ranger’s motor is the same.

silvrsvt
There has been a couple cam phaser issues on the 2.7L, but keep in mind just because someone says it on the internet, doesn't mean EVERYONE is having it. The Bronco had a 2.7L engine issue that affected less then 100 Broncos, but going by the reporting of the different pages on the internet and social media, it seemed like every single one was affected by it, when it was then .01 of a percent. damooch
I can assure you all that the 3.0 has had years of ongoing issues. TSB AND RECALLS on them for at least last 4 years in every vehicle built with them. Not a new issue nor a rare one. Don't expect a potty party, just letting others know and if others are having the issue they should step up so Ford takes notice. I have PMed at least 6 RR owners in the last 2 weeks alone that have the same early failure.
damooch
Ok I'm done. Traded in the Ranger Raptor with 2800 Miles. Tired of all the issues and waiting for an answer or any response from Ford on the known cam failure issues. Really sucks that Ford builds a high performance truck and could care less about a know issue with the 3.0.

I am glad you walked away from it instead of keeping it and whining about it for a couple of years like some other posters have done. Flying68
I guess I don't understand why somebody would trade a vehicle with known issues instead of going through lemon law process to get a buyback. Guess stupid is as stupid does.
