This is basically Ford going after the older Landcruiser pickup market and it valuable commercial sales as service vehicles, forestry and rescue vehicles so no the price will be up around Raptor. Apologies, but when you said there is an outside of this making it stateside, I've never heard that expression. Is that like essentially saying there's no chance of it coming here? Is that like essentially saying there's no chance of it coming here? Watch Paul Maric’s YouTube commentary I posted recently it explains the situation. He suspects that it will be offered in North America but currently for Australia New Zealand, Maybe South Africa. (Think about it, Ford offering updated Ranger markets where F150 is not normally sold) Pricing for Australia has not been officially release but many think it will be around Raptor money considering these are XL trim (XLT later), I think that complements their importation and conversion F150 4x4 XLT/Lariat models. Hope this helps with understanding Bottom line, you already have reasonably priced F150/ 250 in USA, would Ford Nth America build and sell SD Ranger to go against them? akirby
An appearance package for the Raptor would sell better here. Very small market for that much capacity and overlap with F150.

True, it is harder to make a business case for this sort of truck in the states considering we have the f-series. But on the other hand, I do believe there's a sizable group of buyers who would love an overbuilt super capable, virtually indestructible truck that's the size of a ranger, and much easier to live with day to day than a massive f-150 or normal super duty. At the very least, I'd like this to lay the groundwork for the ranger refresh design whenever we end up getting it here, because this thing looks awesome, much cooler than a normal ranger imo.

jpd80
The Squircle wheel arches probably look weird to us Ford fans but clearly intended to draw sales away from Toyota buyers but also adding clear differentiation between the Super Duty and regular Ranger models like Raptor, tremor and Sports. It is what it is and for the intended buyers (Toyota/commercial) probably reinforces what they are used to or like. If this was developed in the US, I see Ford looking to pinch Tacoma buyers. I like the wide body look this and the raptor have. If there was an appearance package on ranger that offered this without spending 60k for a raptor, I’d be all over it. Not a trailer tow person myself, but I could see the Super Duty Ranger doing well in the US. It has the towing capacity for most gooseneck trailers and RVs with but with a smaller frontal area, plus a more garage/parking ramp friendly footprint. Ford could build the chassis at Oakville or KTA then ship them to MAP for final assembly. My guess is there would be less overall plant upgrades needed and both plants could still produce their original products. Probably more of a niche truck initially, but I think it would catch on. The Ranger Raptor and SD Ranger are now just as wide as the F150 thanks to the pushed out wheels and wheel arches. and it wouldn’t surprise me that the weight of SD Ranger is very close to F150, all things ot be considered…

The original American Ford Ranger actually had squircle wheel arches.
