Ford got $9.3bn alone for BOSK and another $1.3bn in public funding for the Battery Park in Michigan. The US government until recently was also the essential source of R&D funding, NIH, NSF, DARPA, etc. The $7,500 tax credit to fund purchases was similar to what constituted the bulk of Chinese gov subsidies, and it plus CAFE credits essentially funded and created Tesla as it is today. A lot of this was pulled back once Trump came in. We absolutely did support EV manufacturing, only really Tesla was taking it that seriously before 2018.

As rmc523 and Sherminator98 suggested, it's the usual FordAuthority speak. You know what that means. 😄   Jimbo mentioned more than once that UEV product launch is an Apollo style mission with little margin for error. Nothing less than "at scale, at cost, on time" is acceptable. You can bet Ford's "air traffic controllers" are hard at work figurin' out how to "land the plane on mass production of UEV."

No we are not.  The Chinese gov't did a lot of battery R&D and battery production subsidizing battery purchases by the mfrs.  Huge financial advantage.

All the good shit is probably under embargo, so this is entirely possible.

It’s probably a political, he’ll stop talking about it when he gets what he is aiming for.   We were doing the same thing, China just started earlier and more thoughtfully (full supply chain), more of their companies responded to it (probably because many are state-owned and their government has more ability to direct their economy than ours), and they didn’t end the subsidies prematurely. 

I hear their next article will be about how to spell Ford.

Yeah, I almost didn't post it after reading what they quoted.  It just said it'll take a lot of work to hit the timeline.......which in FordAuthority speak means it may be delayed.
