With how strong the Explorer is right now, it does make me wonder what is the future plan for it. It dominates its segment and is highly desirable, but are they going to re-introduce a hybrid? Give it the skunkworks treatment to bring it into the modern era? I don’t think they should touch the character of it at all it’s really perfect, but continuously improving and enhancing is key.

I am hearing 6.7L Powerstroke powered F-650's and 750's will again be available in California for the 2028 model year.  Order banks will open Oct. 13th. and the 2028 MY production will start Jan. 11th, 2027.   Ford has committed to medium duty production at Avon Lake through April 2028 under the current UAW contract.

Yup, my thoughts too. Especially since that's Oxford and not Star White.   Heck, you could get a good wrap done that, maybe not last as long as paint, but, would likely be a good way to roll for WAY less than $12k.

In most cases it's as simple as prioritizing short term gains (meeting launch dates and initial cost targets) and ignoring long term warranty costs and customer dissatisfaction.  It's human nature if the short term rewards are good (bonuses, promotions, etc).  That's why the compensation model has to change.   Saw this in IT all the time.   We promised the customer a new release on this date but we're a month behind on development.  So we cut a month out of testing and ship the new release with bugs.  Then we spend 3 months getting it to work correctly and causing all sorts of headaches in the meantime.  The sad part is the next time it comes up and we said we need the extra month of testing the customer would invariably say no we need it now and completely ignore past history.   Same thing happened with the Webasto Bronco hardtops.  Huge mistake.   This is where the CEO has to overrule the short term thinkers in favor of the bigger picture and it sounds like Farley has done that.
