Durability is really nebulous-I see other owners of Broncos having all sorts of issues with their cars on social media and message boards, but at the same time mine has been more or less perfect at the same time. Shit cars happen at times (my SVT Focus was one of them) but for the most part my Fords have been pretty good or at least didn't leave me stranded up the creek without a paddle. I've seen two more or less identical cars (outside of trim) made the same year have completely different ownership experiences for the people that owned them (my sister and my wife had same year Escapes-one had a Limited, my wife had an XLT) and the Limited was a POS. -
And the 10R60 is also amazing in my Ranger. Love it.

I did a quick search on the aviator sales and its pretty low vs its competition, but at this point I don't think Lincoln is worried about being the number 1 selling luxury maker either, so its just gravy for Ford? -
Weren't we hearing 2028-9 on those? I think Bronco itself is 2030?

And I think you just made Ford's point as to the reason it's being discontinued. Apparently, it's not wanted too bad, or one of those folks would have taken it home. They're just looking for a deal. -

You can keep your 4 or 6 speed transmissions and I'll take the 10 speeds thanks! Other than a couple hiccups on occasion, I love the 10 speed in our Bronco and Super Duty. The 10 speed is amazing when towing with the diesel. -

The Maverick got a MCE back in 2025 after launching as a 2022 product I'd expect it to get some sort of update in another 2 years What is the time line for the small CUV and Bronco Sport replacements? I'd guess we'd see some sort of major change in 2029 that helps Aline the Maverick with these other ICE/HEV C2 products. -
I think we'll see targeted areas of CE1 things applied to F-series. For one thing, with a BOF design, I'm not sure how much they actually can apply a gigacasting to such a design, unless they somehow have a full frame cab back and "megabolt" a front section on? I think we'll see more learnings like wiring simplification and under the skin tech applied to reduce costs. Remember there were also the rumors of steer by wire and things like that. I'd actually go the other way and say that F-series is actually one of the areas Ford IS willing to push forward on, as it's the flagship of the company. But I don't think we'll see a full gigacasting approach for it (like I said above, I don't even know if that's possible). I think Maverick itself would be a perfect candidate for CE1 learnings, and by extension the reported Maverick-based models. I was saying over at GMI, I wonder when Maverick is due for a full redesign. By the time Fathom debuts, Maverick will be 6 years old, and theoretically getting ready for a redesign. It's truly hard to gauge the midsize sales potential for Ford, IMO. They have Maverick, which is doing great, and obviously have F-series above doing great too. Ranger is stuck in the middle with a global design that doesn't quite seem to align with US tastes. It did well initially in 2019, but has fallen off since Maverick (and Bronco) arrived. That said, you look at Tacoma, and it was at 214k sales through Q3, dwarfing Maverick and Ranger sales combined (175k).......obviously they don't (yet) have a Maverick entrant, nor does Tundra do F-series numbers, but even Colorado is selling 20k more than Ranger. I think an F-100 more tailored to US buyers could potentially get closer to Maverick numbers, but if you're also throwing in a Bronco truck in there, you're shrinking the buyer pool for both. I'd see it selling similar to Gladiator numbers - roughly 50k per year. I think Ford is hoping Fathom appeals to a completely new set of buyers outside the brand, though I see it taking a bite out of Maverick numbers (10-15% maybe?).

The bone headed decisions on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, zero hybrids (except Corvette), pregnant with low selling large EVs, jumping back into diesels big time and now this, it is a head shaker. Hard to understand Mary’s thinking. I’ll take Farley in a heartbeat.

I just checked the heights on four trucks on my lot, measuring to the bottom of the body at the front of the front door. Very unscientific, but with running boards on lots of trucks, other options got messy. No FX4, Tremor, that kind of thing. Maverick was 15", Ranger was 18", F-150 was 18", Super Duty was 22". Between frame sizing, body height, and point of impact, it does make some sense that side impact safety comes into play. That said, the 2026 F-150 SuperCab and SuperCrew both have the same side impact rating. As to demand, I have to wonder if the lack of demand is manufactured. If a company stops building a product the way people would actually buy it, so they stop buying it all together, does that mean there was a lack of demand? Or that the manufacturer killed the demand that was there? I've heard there's nobody that wants an F-150 regular cab, short box, 4x4, 5.0 V8, but the one I've got on hand has been absolutely the most asked for dealer trade vehicle, and we've had people drive to us from several hours away to see it (and then try to "make a deal" on it). I can't order one for stock, this one was ordered and then the guy couldn't get it. How about a SuperCab V8 STX? I could sell the crap out of those, but Ford no longer builds them that way... so nobody's buying them. Ranger going to a single body/cab/bed configuration makes sense for production purposes. And I'll fully admit, the SuperCab rear cab was NOT comfortable... it was one of the things I explicitly checked out when I saw them at a car show for the first time. I thought "these should just have a rear seat delete option". Really, I think limiting the regular cab, and eliminating the SuperCab, from the F-150 lineup has everything to do with per-vehicle profit and volume.
