I wonder if I should call the dealer and have them fix it while it’s still in the shop after that deer inserted itself between my wife and her destination 😬
But are they making money selling them? Maybe a little because they’ve done a better job than Ford of controlling costs but it’s probably not much.
I don’t think changing the styling or performance would have moved the needle much in terms of sales. Focus ST and RS were the opposite of anonymous blobs but they didn’t sell well enough. In those markets the margins are super thin and buyers are very price conscious so you can’t charge a premium even with a superior product (at a decent volume that is). The only way to make it work is have super cheap platforms and high volumes which Toyota and several others have done very well.
If you want to blame n blame their lack of cost management but the fact remains those markets are low margin low price markets.
