Yea, a prop rod to hold up the hood is one de-contenting item that Mustang hasn't been hit by for 2026. At the rate things are goin', don't be surprised though if the big shots at Ford end up switching from the two gas struts holdin' up the hood in the photo below with a single prop rod in 2027...
Is that a rhetorical question Bob Rosadini my friend? 😄
I think you know the answer. Neither look ahead nor well thought out plan are phrases that the big shots at Ford understand.
It reminds me of the time when Farley wasn’t the CEO and he projected the Flex to sell 100000 units a year and we all know they never even close to achieve those numbers. Way too optimistic projections based on EVs at this time.
On the other hand, would you expect Ford to admit that they were considering partnering with the Chinese? I'm of the "where's there's smoke, there's fire" line of thinking. Ford very well may have talked to the Chinese, about something. Who knows what.
Yes, let me clarify my stance,
When you look at what Ford is talking about,
there are some all new models planned plus a load of refreshes
Combine them all together and you have a decent amount
of what most consider new product but what I’m talking
about is all new vehicles and that is what Ford normally
delivers at that one per year rate I mentioned earlier.
Arguably, Ford now has a lot riding on the new mid sized BEV,
the last thing they will do is drop it like a hot potato but,
if it doesn’t catch buyer imagination sales could end up
like the Mach E…. and then what?
