Too bad the internal water pump in the 3.5L Ecoboost was an issue.
I thought that would come to bite me in the ass right before I sold mine a few years back, thankfully dodged the bullet.
Ford normally doesn't break down production of the F-150 by plant, so that is nebulous at best.
Apparently in 2017 Ford sold 896K F Series, but Ford Authority is reporting 906K in 2018
So I still stand that expecting to sell 500K EV pickups is just a bit of an embellishment by Ford since they only sell roughly 700-800K F-series a year....
The Ford D3 (and D4) chassis was a robust design for sure. Derived from Volvo's P2 chassis, it was a solid bet that sold many examples. Too bad the market changed right out from under them.
Perhaps the rumored tie up with the Chinese in North America was debunked, this story seems to have some grounding in reality:
