There is no easy way for me to know if this study is accurate or not. Assuming it is fairly unbiased, and that data is based on 800,000 cars, a number large enough to provide good enough information on typical use, their conclusion that UF (utility factor) is much lower than previously thought is the main issue to accept or question. If I’m reading this correctly EV versus gas mode went from anticipated 84% electric / 16% gas to a real-world 27% electric / 73% gas.
I would still like to know how they estimated original PHEV at an extremely low 35 grams CO2 per kilometer because their assumptions most likely also affect the revised CO2 estimates. I’m sure this information is available but would likely require significant effort to find.
Interesting - I don't remember seeing that before. So I'd assume the SUV will have an accessible panel for maintenance of the ICE? Seems like it'd be more of an issue for cabin smells and NVH issues? Also, I guess there's no spare?
Having it in the rear makes building the crash structure so much easier. You don't have to accommodate the engine, and you don't have to have two different designs...one with and one without the engine. I would expect it's going to be a rather small engine.
I really like the Scout!
In the grand scheme of things, outside of a major issue, an EV should be more reliable/require less maintenance then an ICE product would. It would also make me wonder if the local mechanic shops would be even willing to invest money in training to be able to fix them.
I don't know, I'm kinda partial to my seat (and steering wheel) warmers in warm weather. I hear Ram owners appreciate their tailgate warmers to keep them warm while they wait for the tow truck.

I'm guessing that an ICE in a EREV configuration won't need as many accessories attached to it to help make it smaller
VW is discontinuing touch pad controls and going back to good old buttons. This new tech crap is for the birds. Just the basics. We don't need seat warmers either. Stop with the gadgetry. It's just another thing that's going to fail and cost mfrs. billions in recalls!
