630land
Wow, quickest name change I've seen. I am sure some are going to cry buckets cuz of name, but lots of good improvements.
Footballfan
That's real nice. Out for three months, and they change the name already. I bet the recent buyers of the Zeypher are real happy
630land
Well, it's just like the good old days of 'anual styling change'. Hey, first year buyers always are taking a big risk. :P
2b2
Lincoln introduces MkZ, entry level (LUXURY) sedan... Hello, haven't we met somewhere already? Kewl, yearly model changes and it's nice to have the Awd confirmed and even nicer to have something to prove that Introduce&Abandon is over
sullynd
and even nicer to have something to prove that Introduce&Abandon is over Yeah, I'd be ticked if I bought a Zeph though... I wonder if they've spruced up the trunk area at all...
RichardJensen
Nice. They fixed the front airdam. It's not ugly. Betcha they changed the rear too. ...
J2D
Foul--- It's not fair. Illegal passing--- for the added power of the 3.5 False start---for naming it Zephyr in the first place. Off-sides ---for the much needed AWD. I'm not sure but Lincoln just might have a formula after all with this new Team.
rsgnome
Amazing what a chrome bar and more pronounced foglights will do for a vehicle. I always thought the Zephyr was the lame duck of the Fusion trio... but now I really want one! Edited February 7, 2006 by rsgnome
sullynd
Nice. They fixed the front airdam. It's not ugly. Betcha they changed the rear too. Unfortunately it looks like all they did back there was change the badge. More photos on Autoblog
sullynd
http://www.blueovalnews.com/index.php?cate...2_articleid=140 So will the Navi be next? Ever notice how banks change name overnight? (You can wake up some mornings and find new signs on virtually every branch)...
lfeg
OK now, do I have this straight - every Lincoln starts with MK, every Ford starts with F (except Mustang), and every Mercury starts with M.
foxrun
OK now, do I have this straight - every Lincoln starts with MK, every Ford starts with F (except Mustang), and every Mercury starts with M. yup welcome to kindergarden marketing
silvrsvt
Damn! They wheren't kidding about when they said they where going to keep doing improvements to CD3 Trio..didnt know that included name changes too! Anyways..didnt something like this happen to the restyled Contential back in the late 90's? They had one body style for a year then it was replaced by something totally new and thankfully better looking?
BORG
Now this is more promising! I would have prefered a more destinctive 'sport' look for this model, but the cosmetic changes are welcome.
NLPRacing
I think a Lincoln MkZ will do better against the TL and ES than a "Zephyr" would. Hopefully they put some sportiness in it.
theVengineguy
I'm not all up on the new MK names. The only benefit I see is that it saves money on lettering the vehicles. I hope that wasn't the motive, but something tells me it is.
MTP WORKER
I do not care for the chrome mirror covers. They stand out to much and give it that auto parts store aftermarket look. Maybe just a thin line of chrome around a painted mirror would look better.
silvrsvt
Wonder how the pricing is going to be affected by the 3.5L and AWD. If its similar to what the top of the line Zephyr is (35K) its going to be a steal....damn almost makes me want to get this instead of a Mustang...LOL
Michael Reynolds
Unfortunately it looks like all they did back there was change the badge. More photos on Autoblog Some of those postings on Autoblog were flat out ignorant (in the comments section), but then again that's par for the course. Anyhow..... The front end of that car looks alot more cohesive, funny what chrome trim does when used sparingly. The best thing of course, is the useage of the Duratec 35 with AWD, it will be in very rare territory especially if Ford keeps the price down. As is the: Audi A4 3.2 Quattro, MB C350 4Matic, BMW 330xi, all start north of the $36K watermark, and the only price competitive vehicle in that segment would be the G35x (more powerfull, down a cog, and marred by a chintzy interior). If Zephyr sales are doing this well now, I can only imagine what they will be like down the road. That being the case, I say bring on the mkS, if it's priced right and the refinement is there, I'm sure it will follow in the footsteps of the Zephyr. If cars like the Lucerne make it to production, I don't see why the mkS can't.
AH-HA
What a waste of money the Zephyr launch was then. Ford should just change its name to FUBAR.
PM Summer
Well it sure shows that Ford isn't "rolling over" for Honda and their MDX vs. MkX" lawsuit.
silvrsvt
What a waste of money the Zephyr launch was then. Ford should just change its name to FUBAR. How was it a waste of money? How much does it cost to change a name? Zephyr is still Lincolns best selling product as of this past month.
Michael Reynolds
I don't understand: 'Ford doesn't refresh their vehicles soon enough' 'Ford refreshes their vehicles too soon' ...........I guess nothing can be done to make people happy these days. Anthony
I kinda expected this when they said they were going to a new naming system. I think they came up with the alphnumeric idea after the name Zephyr had been set in stone. Admittedly though, if this had been another carmaker doing this, you guys would be all over them.
