Thanks a lot for the clarification. Going for flexibility in the body shop is a good thing.

All indications are this is an extremely accurate rendering which is really unfortunate.
NickF1011
All indications are this is an extremely accurate rendering which is really unfortunate. Every indication from sources posting here have been that it's not. They said the Car & Driver one was closer, but still wrong in several areas. I'm sure that the next Gen Mustang is going to passingly look like that render, if your about 6-12 beers in... I much prefer this one: But I don't expect it to look 100% identical to it either... Havelock
Car and driver has a v8 hood. The other render is from CAD drawings....that view kind of hides the hips that are shown in other views of the render.

So why haven't people leaked the actual CAD drawings, instead of doing these stupid renders? Even the 2005 Mustang had a CAD drawing leaked before it was officially shown off, so it makes me really wonder about these claims people are making about it being "official" The first rendering is pretty horrible IMO, the C&D is better, but the rear end is really off in some shots. SoonerLS
So why haven't people leaked the actual CAD drawings, instead of doing these stupid renders? If I were to guess, I'd say that Ford has a serious copyright claim on the CAD drawings themselves. Plus, the CAD files will have identifying information in them as to whose they were... Havelock
So why haven't people leaked the actual CAD drawings, instead of doing these stupid renders? They did if the render is based on them. The difference between the mustang6 render and the magazine render are v6 vs v8, angle, and lighting. NickF1011
They did if the render is based on them. The difference between the mustang6 render and the magazine render are v6 vs v8, angle, and lighting. The differences go far deeper than that. About the only part that looks to be clearly the same is the driving light/brake duct area, which makes sense, since that has been one of the only parts of the vehicle that has been clearly revealed sans camouflage. RichardJensen
I don't think those CAD drawings are Ford Motor CAD drawings.
Anthony
I think it figured out that the render WAS a CAD drawing, not based on a CAD drawing. However, all the automotive blogs worded it to sound as if it were based off some CAD file from Ford.

Didn't stop those guys who showed off the Asian Escort (ooh that sounds dirty LOL)...there is penty of ways of getting the information without showing the data that comes with it. Simplest would to be use the Snipping tool and destroy any identifying marks.. Not to mention I'd think showing the CAD's to people would be breaking NDA's, esp if they are getting leaked to artists for interpretation. I doubt if the NDA's would even allow them to describe what a part looks like, let alone allow for the dissemination of actual company material to the media.
