This thing screams Carlos Tavares: Hybrid, expensive, "vegan leather" due to "environmental sensitivities", not particularly powerful...
Hopefully Antonio Filosa and his team launch products more aligned with North American consumer preferences without fatal flaws. Those elements that I Iisted above aren't without merit on their own, but Carlos Tavares and his team had a habit of combining them in an undesirable way (e.g. Dodge Hornet).
At least Ford now has plenty of battery supply for more hybrids, PHEVs and any EREVs it wants to build.
Go back four or five years and Ford was telling anyone who would listen that having ICE and EV in one
vehicle was heavy and a waste of resources vs BEV. Now they say, Mid Size BEVs are better and varying
amounts of hybrid EV for future ICE vehicles…..interesting how Ford has come so far on it journey, so much
of the false logic was due to the old rigid way its own engineering would approach vehicle development.
Thankfully, eyes are now opened.
With regards to next Gen BEV F150,
Looking at the new universal electric platform, it now feels like T3 BEV
is redundant even before it arrives. Batteries and electrical systems will
be used to upgrade current Lightning while Ford formulates a much better
plan for next generation F Series, be that ICE, HEV, PHEV, EREV or BEV.
This has been a steep learning curve for Ford but better they get the basics
right as an essential first step before trying to roll out profitable new products.
So I ordered a 2025 Ford F450 Super Duty in April, today they canceled my order. I ordered a 2026 last week just in case. So I called my dealer today waiting for an update from his conversation with the Regional Manager. Also waiting for someone from Ford to call me back. I have been searching for contacts to call next week!!! This is BS. orders should roll over to the next year automatically !!
LOL What can I say I am the original owner and bought it brand new...
Although when I was registering it this year the lady told me next year I can put antique plates on it LOL.
Obviously it's so far out there that you have to get creative although there are a handful of place like LMR.com that cater to the Mustang and Lightnings but my F150 is 11 years old now and parts are beginning to get hard to find.
If you call 1-800-336-0486 and choose option 5 Ford has a team of people there to support the app and the digital experience.
You can tell them what you like or don't like and what you wish it could do. They will take your information and pass the suggestions up to the engineers to see if they can be implemented.
Might not go anywhere or you might wake up in the morning and discover that you truck has learned a new trick LOL.
