Speaking of replacements,
Rumour has it that the update on BS (CY27?) will include longer wheelbase plus hybrid and include global
markets. So yeah, maybe CE1 adds a bunch of new sales and customers to the mid size segment.
The CE1 utility will likely be like an EV bronco sport or some other boxy utility it sounds like. But if CE1 is successful, I wouldn't be surprised if an EV escape or when edge were things Ford thought about offering in the future.
Agreed. I personally believe if Ford comes out with some sort of ev escape that has a decent price, an acceptable range, more enticing styling, and better long term reliability than something like a rav 4, I can see that being pretty darn successful.
My point is they’re replacing Escape production with CE1 production. Like they replaced Focus with Ranger and Bronco at MAP. Sales are sales. They don’t have to replace a compact crossover with a compact crossover.
CE1 seems more aimed at mid-sized vehicles
like the planned pickup and Utility plus Van.
I would be good with provided the price stays affordable.
Ford says $30k price but we’ve seen this all before…
I was only talking about screen placement. If the most used controls are on the steering wheel or easily reached on the main screen it’s a moot point. Having a larger screen that’s easier to see and reach would help a lot in that scenario.
I never said it didn’t work better in the first place.
While on that subject though, I expect ergonomics can vary for some people more than others if they happen to not be “normal” or average. Imagine drivers who may have some level of dyslexia or are visually impaired on right side. Granted it’s not a huge percentage of population but what kind of vehicle are they going to drive when all vehicles have menu-based screen controls?
I expect the popular answer is that it’s not the manufacturers’ problem. 😀
