Yes, how did we manage for over a hundred years without backup cameras? Don’t get me wrong, I use my backup cameras a lot and like them. But we did manage to drive without them and we didn’t experience calamity and mayhem. Many of the recalls OEMs deal with are related to government mandated equipment. Think about how many recalls there have been for Takata airbags (67 million, biggest recall in history) and more recently these backup cameras. ABS/ESC also the source of many recalls.

Exactly, and they're required now. So, if it's not working, you're out of compliance. -
She put Mercury on a lot of people's lists lol

I wonder if this is one of those ones that would've been a TSB otherwise if it weren't for the recall issue Ford had a while back.

Well I can think of one.....

I still fail to understand how losing the rear view camera is a safety issue when your mirrors still work.

There's no need to bring back Mercury

Ford CEO Jim Farley Says Australian Bronco Could Actually Happen Farley said that the Ford Bronco is "under serious consideration" for its Australian lineup amid plans to establish The Blue Oval as a global off-road icon. "If we want to be the Porsche of off-road, you’ve got to sell the 911," Farley said, referring to the Bronco as "unapologetically American" and a vehicle that helps define the brand just as the 911 does for Porsche. "Porsche wouldn’t sell all the Macans and Cayennes [it does] if they didn’t have the 911 and win Le Mans." "Should we really launch the Bronco lineup here?" Farley said, and when the executive was asked if Ford was thinking about creating a RHD variant for Australia, he replied by saying "yes, absolutely." As for when that decision might be made, Farley added that it would happen "within days," so we might not have to wait much longer to find out.
