The comments on it being a different kind of truck are intriguing. That could be Ford just saying it's a new, different model of truck. Or it's them saying it's like a style of truck they don't currently offer. -

So like a unibody larger truck that used lessons learned from the CE1 truck like gigacastings to make it most cost efficient? That's not a bad idea. But would truck buyers who can often be a little more traditional, and resistant to change appreciate the cost and engineering advantages with such a product? Or would they be turned off by it because it was too different from something like a ranger or Tacoma? -
Remember when Farley said that a different kind of truck is going to be built at TTP? Given that SUV/CUVs are technically classified as trucks and given that Ford has a huge hole in its lineup with the demise of Escape and Edge, you may be onto something here. Maybe TTP is going to be used to build new CUVs and Farley is having fun with us. -

"Dark Horse" still strikes me as trying too hard IMO. I've always loved the Mach 1 name. Cobra, too. -

Keep in mind the dark horse name also ties in with all the racing series that Ford has the Mustang in also. -

Yes, and of course now just because Ford doesn't have to pay Shelby American the $800 per car royalty does not mean they have to lower the price $800 either!

There's an episode of The FBI TV show from the late 60's/early 70's and the father of his kidnapped son was driving a beautiful blue Shelby Mustang which one FBI agent referred to by that nomenclature. But the Ford name was not mentioned, This show was a one hour Ford commercial for 9 seasons! More on this another time.
