But that's on purpose and very smart because they're learning a lot on Fathom that will probably change how they do things on the other vehicles. It also allows them to focus all resources on Fathom to get it out the door.

I'm still pretty shocked that the 3.5 PowerBoost setup isn't available in the Transit. Seems like having the big Pro Power setup on those would be a contractor's dream rig.

I'll venture to guess it was the late 1970/early 1980s. I think they had them when I went to the Edison plant (they where still making Pintos at the time) in the very early 1980s (before 1982) and they where def there in the mid 1980s with the Escort. The first robotic welder was used by GM in 1961 -
Great video. Next time I'm in Detroit, I really need to take the tour. Do any historians know, when did manufacturers start using robot welders and robot painters?

It sounds like a nice setup but expensive. I am guessing that the Fathom will have PPO as an option. It probably will use the same inverter as described in these articles. A much less expensive solution would be the Ford/Generlink transfer switch setup for PPO. The only downside to that is you have to manually plug it in as compared to this automated system. But how often does the grid go down? The automated system is not worth the extra cost for me.

Ford Gives the Mustang Mach-E Its First Official Police Version - Autoblog According to Ford Authority, the Blue Oval is launching the 2027 Ford Mustang Mach-E Special Service Vehicle (SSV), marking the very first time this official fleet designation has been applied to the electric crossover. Instead of a compromised civilian retrofit, this purpose-built factory vehicle starts life as a base Select model but completely bypasses the standard battery in favor of a massive 91-kWh extended-range pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Ford’s new SSV designation is distinctly different from its pursuit-rated Police Interceptor badge. The first-ever Mach-E SSV is strictly designed to serve as a reliable municipal support vehicle for detectives, administrators, and non-pursuit patrol divisions. Even without the pursuit rating, it easily ranks among the more unusual police cars on the road, coming standard with aggressive Brembo front brakes and red-painted calipers lifted directly from the high-performance GT model.

Inside the Ford Factory That Makes America's Favorite Pickup Truck - Autoblog The article titles it as a look at Ford's Rouge factory, but the video eventually shows both Chevy and Ram looks too.

I would be totally comfortable using my Fathom as an emergency backup generator when the grid goes down, but not as a daily power supply to take advantage of time shifting electric rates. For me, an EV’s battery is to expensive and precious to use for that purpose. One of the reasons I want a hybrid Ranger with Pro Power Onboard is for the home backup scenario. It is perfect for that and lasts considerably longer than a Fathom would. If you have extra gas on hand (like my boat’s gas tank), then it could power my house for a few weeks.

Have you tried CarGurus.com? I was able to use that to find my F150. I wanted a 2023+ Lariat 502 oxford white with blackout package 3.5EB. I was able to find one about 300 miles away using that site.
