Hey our labor may be expensive, but its not German expensive. HA -
I was going to make the same point but you beat me to it. A few weeks ago we heard from a trusted contributor that a CD6 program was being delayed so that CE1/UEV elements could be incorporated into it to reduce costs. There will be spillover that helps mitigate UEV costs. Farley has certainly put his neck out for UEV. If it is successful he will deserve a lot of credit for it.

There are lots of other benefits to US plants. Tariffs just pushed the business case over the edge.

I think once the NHTSA spanking is over, they will follow the Toyota route. Owning a few Toyotas for work, nearly every time they are in for oil changes there is a "customer service campaign" item taken care of. Many of them are very similar to Ford recall items, but they are just solving them under routine maintenance visits. They are pretty proactive about it, something Ford is learning and keeps with. -

Bought in December '25, traded 2013 C-Max with 130,000 miles. Was 77 and had had 13 years and decided if the Escape lasts 13 years I'm 90 and done driving. We have about 4500 miles, mostly just errands and maybe 2 250 mile trips/year. We are getting 5.2 MKH which is less and $0.03 /mile of electricity. Most trips the gas engine is never used and can go upto 70 miles on a full charge using 120 v and about 13 hrs to recharge. The 1st day we filled up @ Costco for $2.12/gal and earlier this mo I added 2 gals so wife would feel confortable driving and I also added Stabil to protect the gas. Since purchase avg 99.9 MPGe. Just the 2 of us and we love our Ford. Thank for reading and will answer questions if anyone has any. -

Keep in mind that some of the stuff they have learned from developing UEV is likely going to be applied to ICE and hybrid vehicles. This is a smart way to get the UEV to pay for enhancements to other vehicle platforms and let Ford E absorb some of the losses for that.
