I've rented a Gladiator before, it was even a manual. I really liked it. I would buy one of those over a Ranger any day. Hopefully, a Bronco pickup is in the pipeline.
A 6.8 would also be a lot simpler and probably cheaper to make than a Coyote. Being pushrod, things like cylinder deactivation is easier as well. A 6.8 hybrid in a Super Duty would make a lot of sense.
Now that the Maverick has been introduced, when will we start seeing the V758 TC mules running around? I would love to see the TC renamed as Econoline, especially if it's NA only.
The Aerostar was actually unibody and didn't use many Ranger parts at all other than the powertrain. I had an extended length with a 4.0L V6 for a short time in the late 90's, it was a nice little van.
In the past, Ford said it would be the fastest, most powerful, most payload & most towing capacity F150 ever. If they can get the range to around 300 miles, that would be perfect for me.
I sure hope it does. The TC could grow to Metris size and still be viable for its current market. Especially if different wheelbase & roof heights are offered.
That could also give Ford a possible AWD Minivan. That could be pretty popular with the #VanLife people.
It appears the SUV was filled with people that crossed the border illegally through a hole on the fence. I also read that the middle & rear seats were removed. I guess that's how they fit so many people in it. Very sad situation. https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/03/us/imperial-california-crash-wednesday/index.html
My old motor home had the V10. It was surprisingly responsive, but would only get 6 mpg when going over 65 mph. Not bad for an 8’ wide, 12’ tall, 35’ long brick that weighed about 18,000 pounds.
I would really love to see a 5.0L V8 option. The Explorer is the only RWD based SUV in this class that doesn't offer a V8 option. The 3.0EB ST is great, but an XLT or Limited with a Coyote would be amazing.
Not much is known about the new 6.8L V8 other than it's 7.3L Godzilla based. It could have an aluminum block, direct injection, built for boost, etc. I can't wait to learn more about it.
I think they want to test the limit before they crack it open. 1100HP with a stock bottom end without blowing up is pretty awesome. And it sounded fantastic as well!
